Rather than referring to the ten protruding appendages on the end of your feet, the “toé”, with an acute accent on the “e”, under which the producer, researcher and DJ Mr. Toé works, is a plant allegedly of the divine type. Taking the name of a plant which is used as an hallucinogen by Amazonian shamans, the expatriate Chilean (now taken root in Colombia) makes “electronic music of the jungle”. An organic fusion of ancestral Afro- and Amerindian-Latin culture, Mr. Toé’s enchanting compositions centre around the sharing and experience of Latin American heritage, considering the “symbiosis of African and Spanish music” which blends to make something uniquely Latinx.

“This session, or ritual, aims to transport us to that mysterious America. Always fighting, through the hand of ancestral and futuristic sounds, it has the objective of generating a hybrid trance that projects us and reconnects us with the forces of mother earth and the cosmos.”

Mr. Toé- Con Alma Mixtape 31 -Sound and Colors.

Lemurian and J.Pool have been prolific as solo artists, and this is their first time collaborating together. Uniting their individual sounds in a matrimony of majestic tones and harmonies, they each draw influence from the cultural heritage of their native lands.

Born in Peru and based in Tulum, Lemurian is the owner of Cosmic Awakenings, but he has also released his tracks and remixes on other noteworthy labels such as Kindisch, Sol Selectas, Pipe & Pochet and Exotic Refreshment. He is someone who likes to celebrate life, and this uplifting and spiritual energy is something that can be felt and heard in his music and DJ sets.

J.Pool is a fresh talent who is making his debut on Cosmic Awakenings after previously working with other imprints such as Camel Riders, Numa, Cosmovision and Ohxala Records. “Based in Tulum, he is someone who is an active DJ and musician, who is involved in creating many events linking music to spirituality and wellbeing such as music production retreats.”

On remix duty, Turu Anasi is a Ukrainian artist who has worked previously with Cosmic Awakenings. Seba Campos is also making a return to the label, but has also released on other influential imprints ranging from 3000 Grad to Copycow.

All of the tracks on this release are downtempo cuts with vibrant percussion and ethnic instrumentation, blended with sequenced beats and hard warming vocal samples.

"Parabel" is a concept EP in which he reflects the story of his provenance. Dipped in blues and marinated in Jazz, this release is a diverse journey in all the ways: 'Once Upon A Grind’ kicks off with a reflection of his father’s immigration from Italy to Germany.

Our latest compilation features some of our old and new friends which joined the mission to trespass geographical and cultural borders, and to create a multifaceted community united in the common love for music. Our ‘Sonorities’ travel slow, but they travel far. Organic and joyful sounds reminding of Latin America and of their native people are flanked on the one side by instruments and motives coming from the East, on the other side there are urban trippy rhythms. Ecstatic dancing beats travel alongside ethereal and mesmerizing melodies. Such diversity is not only meant to present the variety of sounds which these great artists can exhibit, but also to represent the diversities among human beings which are here united in one heterogeneous and harmonious complex, as it’s the world we envision - a whole symbiotical organism...
