British DJ and producer Boxer and Anjuna favourite Amy Wiles reunite to remix Tenth Planet’s ‘Ghosts’. 

Boxer and Amy Wiles first joined forces in 2020 to rework Above & Beyond’s ‘Home’, which received support from the likes of Cosmic Gate, Alex Wright, Elevven, Gabriel & Dresden, Kyau & Albert, Oliver Smith, and many more tastemakers worldwide. For their latest collaboration, they put their spin on Tenth Planet’s celebrated trance classic, ‘Ghosts’. 

Amy Wiles started her DJ career at 16, and has played for us at Group Therapy 450, Tomorrowland, Creamfields, The Warehouse Project and at Anjunabeats club nights across London. She’s racked up over 1M streams on Spotify on her debut single, ‘Biding Time’, which was released in June 2021 as part of the Anjunabeats Rising series, and has remixed Above & Beyond, Kyau & Albert, Farius and gardenstate. Univack presents 'In The Beginning', a two-track EP with an original by the Greek duo SERIOUS DANCERS @seriousdancers , plus a remix by the Argentinian HERNAN CATTANEO @hernancattaneo & Chilean SIMPLY CITY @simply_city_music .

Serious Dancers  return to Univack one year after their successful first release on this label, titled 'Sabase Pahale'. Serious Dancers are ones of the most representative names in the Organic House music scene nowadays. This time they show a track closer to Progressive House, but still loyal to their particular style, characterized by solid beats, hypnotic and evocative melodies, and cinematic  elements.

The EP is completed by the awesome remix from the most representative DJ in the worldwide Progressive House scene for the last two decades, el maestro Hernan Cattaneo, in collaboration with the also experienced DJ & producer Simply City. This remix is the second release of both artists on Univack, and another evidence of their perfect symbiosis when they make music together.

Serious Dancers - In The Beginning (Hernan Cattaneo & Simply City Remix) [Univack]

Danny Bonnici and Luke Chable are very familiar with each other's studios. In 2003, they collaborated to produce the ebullient classic ‘Ride,’ arguably the standout release in underground dance that year. Almost a decade passed before they rekindled their partnership, resulting in ‘Colours,’ a delightful 2010 release that wears its whimsical heart on its charming sleeve. Fast forward to 2024, and Balance is proud to re-release this gem with a fresh round of remixes, featuring Dutch star Alex O’Rion and a breakbeat re-rub by Danny Bonnici.

If ‘Ride’ epitomized care-free mid-00’s prog, ‘Colours’ is imbued with the spirit of 2010. It’s a radiant drive atop a sunlit melody and kaleidoscopic tones that will embed itself deep into your psyche. Drawing inspiration from the more vogue-ish releases of that year, the brilliance of ’Colours’ lies in its light-hearted clarity: a stonking drum section and a melodic motif that lingers in you like a pleasant memory. Today, ‘Colours’ feels as nostalgic as it's vital; a love letter to a time we never knew would pass us by, or at worst, an invocation of a pre-Covid era that seems a million miles away.

Danny Bonnici revisits his breakbeat roots with a delightful re-rub, paying homage to an era when progressive breaks reigned king. Skittering snares and shuffling hats play off each other; the percussion contrasting sharply against the consistently moving bellow of the Hoover-like bass. Keeping the original melody front centre, it eventually explodes post-breakdown into a dizzying arpeggiated variation. If you want to know why Danny Bonnici is considered a breakbeat don, look no further.

Dutchman Alex O’Rion extends his streak of platinum productions with a refined update. By using warmer tones to soften the edges, the energy is burnished with more tranquil textures. The melody is framed by warm risers and smart fx that engage in playful interaction, whilst a casual bass line dances in complete flow with the melody. All the parts add up to a joyous progressive union - a beautiful organic dance that never feels contrived.

From his home in Melbourne, Matty Doyle's success under his Matter soubriquet has seen an exponential rise over a career that spans more than a decade and some 400 production credits. Now returning to his spiritual home and the label he curates with his fellow countryman and production partner, Matter delivers "We Are Here".

An artist with no inconsiderable talent and a wealth of high-profile releases on Anjunadeep, Balance Music, BeatFreak Recordings and Proton Music, Matter's output on Meanwhile has also been prolific with such glittering solo gems as "Amanita", "Banksia" and a quartet of collaborative releases with GMJ since 2020 including: "Lost on Origin", "Eldarin" and December 2023's "Stellaris / Idtritah". Now, after the success of November 2021's "Starchild" on Meanwhile Horizons – achieving over 1 million Spotify streams – Matter returns to the flagship label with another magnificent magnum opus.

Opening with smooth beatless soundscapes of "Coming Home", Matter's trademark atmospheres and emotive melodic patterns flood through the 11-track album. The broken beat rhythms and velvety smooth basslines create a driving force across "Wombat Forest", while a more familiar 4-to-the-floor backdrop powers the likes of "Livid", "Afterburn" and "Stardew". Providing a moment for reflection at the mid-point mark with its undulating arpeggio and subtly filtered dynamism, "Things Beautiful" is nestled between the uptempo grooved bassline presence and evolving chord progressions of "Afterburn" and silky "Elsewhere" that hypnotises through its sustained arp and haunting vocal phrasing. The final stanza of tracks finds a new direction with the glissando lead line of "Times Gone By" forming the basis for a warm analogue distortion and counterpoint phrase before GMJ joins the fray on the chunky rhythmic mastery of "Conduits". Oozing club-friendly appeal and immaculate dancefloor cadence, the track is fuelled by shaker-driven vibrancy, coruscating arps and intermittent vocalisation, to create another classic collaboration. Closing out, "The Passage" is a dominant reminder of Matter's mastery over his sonic palette as it weaves a resplendent journey across modern progressive house.

Sitting proudly atop the Progressive House mountain with another summit finish of epic proportions, Matter can proudly claim, "We Are Here".
