Iranian producer Arash Shadram joins forces with Sophijan to deliver one of the key tracks of the year “Troubled Sleep” that promises a night of insomnia and intensity! A dooming and gloomy hook pushed further by an uncompromising beat and frantic arpeggiators are a guaranteed banger for the dance floors. 
Dark already in the name “The Reprieve” shows little aspects of mercy but yet delivers a gloomy atmosphere with pushing beats and energetic breaks. The melody is powerful and memorable alike. 
The most melodic track of this release comes with “Transcendence”. Melodic Techno at it's finest with an epic hook, yearning synths and releasing breaks.

PREMIERE : Aston Alba - Euphrates (Original Mix) [Chrom Recordings]

Our Chrom Recordings EP nr 40 is from Sam Albasini aka Aston Alba, a producer & DJ from Switzerland. In 2018 he released his first singles and EP's on Trippy Code and Inlab. Pretty soon his style of music evolved from melancholic & hypnotic techno into a mix of mystic atmospheres and Middle Eastern sounds resulting in releases on Grrreat & Aftertech. And in this style he presents us now his 2-track EP on Chrom Recordings:“Tigris & Euphrates”. To round things off, we also added  some very powerful remixes.

For “Euphrates” we asked an artist we already wanted to add to our roster for some time: Aaron Suiss, from Washington DC, but now currently residing in Thailand. Aaron Suiss describes his style of music as Progressive Melodic House/Techno. Aaron is currently working as the A&R & Label Manager of Outta Limits Recordings, one of the leading Progressive House labels around and the imprint of Stan Kolev & Matan Caspi. Next to his output on Outta Limits he also has released on Revolt, Harabe & O'Tawa. For this remix Aaron teams up with Q.U.A.K.E aka Netanel Asraf from Israel.

The second remix of “Euphrates” is made by Riccardo LeBron aka Anakim (pronounce as ana-keem), a Los Angeles-based DJ/producer who describes his music as "Intergalactic Underground Sounds”. He perfected his sound at the esteemed Icon Collective Music Production School resulting in a dark and mysterious sonic style that is both melodically rich and delightfully sinister. Releases on top labels such as EIN2, ICONYC, mau5trap, Desert Hearts Black, Krafted Underground, Dear Deer,... and nominated by DJ Mag as  “Artist To Watch” in 2019 and by Billboard Dance as “Emerging Artist You Should Know” this year, says it all.

And last but not least the EP is completed with a remix of “Tigris” by Sarcasmo. Sarcasmo is a new project, a new idea, from the Spanish producer/DJ Alvaro Fuentes, established in London, sharing his more than 10 years of experience and in which after researching about different styles brings his darkest side: techno, deep and minimal influences fused with dark vibes is what you can find in most of his energetic productions, resuling in releases on labels such as Steyoyoke, Us & Them, KDB, Wood, Cinematique, Qilla,...

Let's set the scene. An explorer on a mission. A new frontier and a journey riddled with perils. Adventure. Danger. Power. Discovery. Peace. Arude's EP "Echoes of the past" really embodies that feeling of exploration, of wanting to master new worlds. The EP takes you on a trip in your own mind in three different stages.

The hit track, with the same title as the EP, is the first stage of the journey. It's on a mission to discover new territories and it will not go down without a fight. Especially the percussion in the title track signals a forceful drive - underlined by a deep, murmuring voice in the background. There's only one way on this journey, the voice seems to say, and that is forward. The explorer's nature is to go where no one has been. "Echoes of the Past" will take you on the journey there.

"Perigree" on the other hand is for when the explorer has embarked on the shores of the new world and claimed it. It's an interesting mix of joy and passion for finding something new and shiny, while at the same time signalling that any new discovery is bound to come with a certain set of conditions. You can't choose what you find.

On "Agalma", Arude turns to the homecoming journey. There's definitely enlightenment to the track, but also a big portion of nostalgia and longing for the known. On the title track "Echoes of the past", the bass-like voice in the background is the unclear goal the explorer had. Going somewhere, not knowing where. "Agalma" has a break towards the end with a passionate and high-pitched synth melody. It's a beautiful embodiment of finally having found the unknown, becoming wiser and accepting your findings because they belong to you.

Whereas "Echoes of the Past" is about an almost childlike exploration and struggling to find your way, "Perigree" is about self-discovery and soul-searching. "Agalma" is about acknowledging your findings and being true to yourself. If you're interested in making a trip to the innermost corners of your mind and finding out what world you belong in, Arude's EP "Echoes of the mind" is for you
