We’ve got some fresh homegrown Irish techno from Izotope boss Jon10, to kick start your weekend that bit earlier. Jon10 channels deep and tribal rhythms on his latest release ‘Detroit Holds The Secrets’ as part of Sonic Intel’s all Irish VA, focussing on the groovier territories of techno.

JON10 has been committed to bringing hardgroove and groove orientated techno back to Limerick through his party Izotope. Jon10 burst onto the Irish electronic early in the year 2020 and has been rapidly gaining attention with stellar releases, mixes and his Izotope brand.

Jon’s style of mixing and producing is derived from 90s/early2000s techno, which is evident with the sharp cuts and thundering grooves found in both his music and sets. JON10 picked up music production not so long ago and is already embarking on a quest to revive the sounds that once graced the dance floors many decades ago.

Jon10 has recently released on his imprint Izøtope as well as a number of free downloads and edits, coming on various platforms. Jon10 has been refining his sound, and you can hear his sheer dedication to perfecting a vintage techno sound.

The Limerick native showcases a deep yet none the less pounding techno excursion in his latest techno offering. ‘Detroit Hold’s The Secrets’ is fuelled by emphatic bass drums, breakbeats, crisp hats and Detroit style dub chords, as well as sampling the classic techno track ‘Erase – The Secrets’. 'A growing name within paired back house music, Son d’Étroit boss Boran Ece is steadily crafting his own sound palette fusing a wealth of wide-reaching influences. Having launched the main label in early 2021, welcoming the likes of Hannes Bieger and Mihai Popoviciu as remixers, he now launches a new project focused solely on his own original material. Set to release a new EP every six weeks, the Basel-based DJ and producer unveils SDE Digital, with the inaugural EP landing to close July as he delivers three new productions across his ‘Woodward Avenue’ EP.

Opener ‘Post Soul’ is a vocal-led slice of resonant house guided by dubby stabs and crisp percussion, while ‘Jazz Club’ fuses rich keys with hazy chords, low-slung bass, and further soulful vocal work. To close the show, ‘Riverwalk’ journeys even deeper as shadowy pads, crisp drums, and echoed samples take things firmly into after-hours territories.

To celebrate hitting their 20th release, Cleric’s imprint pulls together 23 talents for an essential various artist compilation including tracks from the likes of Rebekah, Cleric, Stef Mendesidis, Remco Beekwilder & Stranger, Endlec, Kwartz, Setaoc Mass, Roman Poncet, Slam and many more.

Clergy has become synonymous with a balance of atmospheric and hard hitting brand of techno ever since 2014. The boss's own music has been key to that, with carefully curated releases from guests such as Dax J, Kwartz, Reflec and Cleric himself. Helping to make the label an underground favourite. ‘Clergy Visions 01’ sees Cleric invite an array on techno heavyweights to contribute to this compilation that’s mixed by the label boss himself.
Things open up with the bleak ambience and fizzing electric cables of Jokasti & Nek's 'Grained' then Sept's 'Artifical' lays down a tunnelling techno groove that immediately locks you in. The mysterious alias, Reizemann heads off to a cosmic realm with its deep space pads slowly building the momentum throughout the drums. The energy levels then stay high throughout tracks from Roman Poncet, Kwartz and Setaoc Mass, then leading onto the groove of Stef Mendesidis.
Testament to Cleric's skills as a DJ and sequencer is the fact this journey is constantly evolving while remaining coherent. A mid- section featuring the likes of Endlec, Sleeparchive and EAS keeps you on your toes with perfectly stripped back but hard dynamic drum programming and intense melody work. Remco Beekwilder & Stranger bring a more hard hitting and industrial style before Slam calm the fires once more allowing you to sink into a smooth, elongated roller. It's left to the dystopian darkness of Rebekah and atmospheric techno brilliance of Lerias to close out this most adventurous mix in real style.
