Ahead of the release of his debut album, Melawati serves ups a new single from it on Ellum Audio while label head Maceo Plex remixes alongside AVNU.

Belgian artist Melawati's debut album ‘Artimia’ arrives in October. It was produced with an array of modified machines and modular synths and finds the artist searching for beauty in chaos. It is an experimental but emotive work that lands on this label after Melawati met Maceo Plex, hit it off, then shared an impromptu jam.
The excellent 'Slow Pulse' is exactly that - languorous synth lines that stretch out over downbeat drums. It's a track full of yearning and melodic beauty that shimmers and shines with a cosmic sense of loss at its heart.
The remix comes from boss Maceo Plex alongside label regular and Scotsman AVNU. They flip the original into a loose-limbed bit of spaced-out tech funk. The retro-future chords have subtle hints of nostalgia while the drums and bass carry you away on a fluid groove.

This is high-class space music as always from Ellum Audio.

What makes everybody's darling duo Monkey Safari so special is surely their authenticity; with their striking debut album ‘Odyssey’​, this meant producing the same kind of tracks they were playing as they toured nightclubs and festivals around the world, rather than simply a listening album. The result was a dance floor artwork. And while they may be perfectionists, they’re certainly no purists, carefully handpicking remixers they see as most capable of continuing their vision for the album.

Split in 3 separate EPs, ‘Odyssey Remixed – One’​, ‘Two’​, and ‘Three’ will be released in May, June, and July 2018, featuring reworks of the original album tracks by the master himself, Carl Cox​,  international stars Hernan Cattaneo​, Guy J​, Tensnake ​and Reboot​, studio geniuses Dubspeeka, Hannes Bieger, ROD, ​and Phil Moffa​, as well as up-and-coming talent Avidus​, Trivmph​, and ​Hommage label co-chief Karl Friedrich

Reboot: ​“​Being asked to lay hands on one track of the last Monkey Safari album was a big pleasure for me, as I have been a fan of their work for a while. Even though it was rather challenging, as the original is a perfectly produced floorkiller. So I tried to bring the track into a more dirty direction with a long breakdown, but without leaving the original`sidea too much. I hope people enjoy the results.”

Tensnake:​ “I had a blast remixing ‘Odyssey’. The vocals inspired me to remix it with a bit of 90’s industrial vibe.”

ROD​: “Thanks to the great original parts, both my remixes flowed out of my system quite naturally. i was happy to do 2 complete different remixes. where ‘prologue' is more about peak-time techno-energy, with 'sign' i tried to create a much more psychedelic underwater-ish vibe which i think worked out quite well with that soothing vocal."

'Above Your Head' is elegant deep house with gentle chords washing over the grooves and vocals from Defected artist and London singer-songwriter Jinadu that send shivers down your spine. The whole thing is soft, lush and comforting, and will bring real moments of tenderness to any DJ set.

Regular label associates Kollektiv Turmstrasse are masters of melodic house who have proved their worth on Diynamic, Connaisseur and numerous other imprints. Their remix of ‘Above Your Head’ sends the vocals through some moody filters, layers in a little grit in the percussion and gets you in a trance with its rolling drums. They also turn in a more upright dub that allows the music to shine.

Last year ended on the highest note imaginable for our Canadian record label. For our final release of 2020, we premiered LA duo Haddadi Von Engst with their knockout, introductory EP "I Was Blind" featuring a stunning Rodriguez Jr. remix. The record was supported by giants in the industry + saw it's way straight to the Top 3 on the competitive Beatport Melodic House and Techno chart + placed in Top 10 on the overall Top 100. So we thought... Why mess with a good thing?

We aim to start our 2021 release schedule on a similar high-note by presenting Haddadi Von Engst’s encore release, "Run". It is an elegant + powerful two-tracker EP with both modern + classic electronic elements perfect for big or small room vibes. This time, the original is paired with an uplifting remix on the B side by the masterful, German legend Einmusik.

At You Plus One we don't believe in describing sounds with theatrical written words. We'd rather you just listen for yourself, + hear why these newcomers have made such a tremendous splash in our dance music world so quickly.
