After a pair of remixes 7 years apart, Verche now returns with a full debut and his thematic "Riptide" EP. Opening with the 2-part "Metastaze", a robust groove and sustained bassline provide the foundation for cadenced stabs and trilling synth motif to build alongside a glassy motif in a pulsating club-friendly manner. Part 2 continues the bassline theme of Part 1 as a powerfully sustained lead replaces the more subtle phrasing of its partner track. The result is a gloriously dynamic and dramatic piece. "Riptide" continues the melodic themes of the opener as a powerful groove provides the backdrop for familiar motif and driving force to make their mark. Evolving, vocal chants and white-noise infused pads add real dancefloor purpose. Changing the overall vibe, "Surreal" is typified by a chunky rhythm and syncopated bassline. A flurry of melodic elements and effects-laden pads create a bright sonic landscape as the track rises and falls with ease reaching its denouement at the 6-minute mark. The final original track sees "Northern Lights" continue with a vibrant driving character that builds easily across its 8-minute timeframe where counterpoint and carefully patterned motifs jostle for position. Fully unleashed post-breakdown, a huge kick and pulsing white-noise pads drive the track home with delicate melodies cutting through the mix in repeated phrases.

The combined pair of Luke Brancaccio & Gai Barone needs little introduction. A veteran of more than 20 releases on Bedrock plus work for Platipus and Selador stretching back over 15 years, Brancaccio is an iconic figure. Similarly, Gai Barone's 600 plus production credits for the likes of JOOF, Black Hole, Armada and his own Afterglow imprint, have sealed the Italian's place in dance music's hall of fame. First joining forces on a 2019 remix for Dear Deer, the duo's recent work for Selador, Lost & Found and Renaissance has seen them at the top of their profession. Remixing "Riptide", a chest-thudding kick and ticking percussion provides the foundation for a strongly rhythmic melody to repeat hypnotically throughout in dramatic fashion. Making superb use of the vocal phrasing of Verche's original, the remix blossoms in the second half alongside intelligent use of original components.

On the back of a pair of Particles remixes in 2021, Toronto based, Zoi, saw his talent shining through on reworks for To Ricciardi & Dope (PT) and Jayden Klight. Appearances on Flug Lab, Dream Culture and Traum, over a 5-year career, have showcased a penchant for "complex soundscapes and deep melodies", with Zoi's remix of "Riptide" displaying an array of melodic textures and laidback rhythmic foundation. Making clever use of the Verche's original components, a stripped-back interpretation allows for a floating soundscape to swell gently throughout the 5-minute piece as original production and new motifs enter the fray in the second half. The result is an ingenious and highly original new interpretation.

Kicking off the EP is a remix of Above & Beyond’s ‘Surge’ from Russian producers PROFF and Igor Garanin. First debuted during Above & Beyond’s ABGT500 Deep Set, PROFF and Igor Garanin add an organic house spin to the original, leading with an array of percussion and intricate countermelodies.

James Grant and Jody Wisternoff collaborate with British producer LEGATO on ‘Petals’. With releases on All Day I Dream, Eton Messy, When We Dip and Nightcolours, LEGATO demonstrates his distinctive style in his latest collaboration.

Duke Boara returns to Anjunadeep with ‘Woodwick Close’. Having first debuted on Anjunadeep 12, Duke Boara has since gone on to release his debut album ‘11am’ which has gained over 8 million streams and support on BBC Radio 1.

Anjunadeep welcomes Natascha Polké back to the label with a James Grant & Jody Wisternoff edit of ‘Loose Lips’. Natascha debuted on the label in 2022 with ‘Cranes’, a collaboration with Nils Hoffmann, and has had further releases on This Never Happened, Hive Music and Definition:Music. Leading with Natascha’s enchanting vocals, James and Jody stamp their mark with signature percussive-led rhythms and warm chords.

‘Freefly’ is the second collaborative cut on the EP, with Ukrainian producer Nōpi, Jody Wisternoff & James Grant. Nōpi first debuted on Anjunadeep in 2020 and has since gone on to release his outstanding four-track EP ‘Gray Cloud’ on the label.

Rounding off the EP is a Jody Wisternoff & James Grant remix of LAR ‘Collide’. Hailing from the UK, LAR debuted in 2021 with his release on Monstercat Silk and has since gone on to release on Colorize, Eton Messy and Zerothree.

Tash's Movement Recordings opens the month of August by welcoming Matias Carafa to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Argentina, Matias Carafa has been a fixture of the progressive house underground for the better part of a decade. The Rosario resident's melodic sound would find its way onto established imprints such as 3rd Avenue, Just Movement and Massive Harmony, while earning the praise of some of the genre's top tastemakers. Now, following a release for Luca Bacchetti's Endless imprint earlier this year, Matias makes his much-anticipated Movement Recordings debut with 'Mercury Transit'. Matias continues to explore timeless progressive narratives on the lead selection 'Mercury Transit'. Rhythmically charged, its smooth pulsating cadence, panoramic arps and mesmerizing percussion set the piece on a course for hypnotic enlightenment. Bending tonal themes marry perfectly with misty atmospheres and rolling drums across the main break, nicely setting up an exhilarating crescendo and grandiose finale. The second selection 'No Return' proves to be a worthy complement with its deep, driving energy. Punchy beats power the groove, while percolating rhythms and haunting overlays add space and intrigue. Continuing to evolve as the main break commences; astral motifs and pensive atmospheres create a unique emotional response, before eventually melting down into a thumping drop and prophetically styled final act. The third and final selection 'Sad Call' continues the smooth progressive minded flow with a gorgeous hypnotic narrative. A rolling low end sets the track in motion as hopeful pads, clustered effects and buoyant rhythms move through the framework as the main break approaches. Foggy and mysterious, the interlude sits at the core of the storyboard, with its timeless appeal eventually revealing rolling meditative structures, before perfectly segueing into a trippy finale.

This Sasha statement become a sacred Warung mantra, only those who know the experience of having a sunrise at the temple can talk about it. Although lately the sun rises every day with empty dance floors, Warung continues playing its role and making the difference in the scene during this moment of protection.

The opportunity culminated in the union of one of the biggest and most important clubs in the world with a renowned Brazilian electronic music website, Alataj, in an arduous but rewarding mission: translating the essence of Warung into a VA with 20 original tracks, making a mix of new promises with producers already established in a curatorship with great care.

Amid the rich musicality of the VA, you will find some Argentine artists, people that has always been very welcome in the club. Promising names like Antrim, Ezequiel Arias & Artfaq and Mariano Mellino & John Cosani, make their debut presenting deep and exciting sound approaches, perfect to a sunset on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean.
