Premiere: Garance - Yellow Shadows feat. Bunn - Grey Bar Hotel

Sound Avenue wraps up a strong spring season by showcasing new interpretations of ‘A Fading Dream' by Madloch & Subnode. Originally released in August of 2023 as the lead piece to the duo's 'A Fading Dream' EP, the deep dubbed-out nine-minute epic was one of depth, character and groove. Fully formed within the creative confines of the duo's Belgian studio, it was yet another chapter in Madloch & Subnode's prolific partnership, one which has succeeded in showcasing their inventive approach to composition, while remaining both club-effective and listener friendly. Moving forward, the duo wrapped up a successful 2023 with the October release of ‘September Day', a concise yet whimsical and wondrously dreamy piece of music which was celebrated for its fluttery drum arrangements and airy sense of space. With 2024 now well into its second quarter, Sound Avenue looks back on ‘A Fading Dream', inviting Figueras, Diego Moreira and Ercos Blanka to re-imagine the track for the summer season.

Golden Wings Music celebrates their 50th release by welcoming Daniel Curotto to the label for his debut single. Argentinean artist Daniel Curotto has been a fixture of the progressive house underground for the better part of a decade. On the strength of early tracks ‘Rising Sun’ and ‘Far Earth’ Daniel established a groovy nostalgic sound which made him a name to watch going forward. Releases for Mistique Music and Polyptych would follow across the next three calendar years, further establishing Daniel as a progressive house talent. 2023 would see the Argentine rise to greater heights with key projects via Libertas and INU Musica. Now, as Golden Wings celebrates their 50th release and first in almost two years, they welcome Daniel to the label with ‘Mediterraneo’ alongside remixes from (in order of appearance) Gai Barone, Ranj Kaler and East Cafe.

Providing the first interpretation of ‘Mediterraneo’ is Gai Barone who makes his label debut. With an esteemed career stretching the better part of two decades Gai Barone has become one of electronic music’s most sought after artists. The renowned musician and Italian native has long been one of the industry's most fascinating producers. An unrivalled quest for the creation of something uniquely memorable and deeply moving has fuelled his sonic journey. As a true craftsman, it is this drive for excellence that makes each one of Gai’s studio creations met with much anticipation. Afterglow, Bedrock, Lost & Found and more have been landing spots for some of his most notable work, while progressive music trendsetters such as Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and more have been steadfast supporters along the way. Now in a year which has already seen Gai deliver projects for Dreaming Awake, Vapour Recordings and his own Patterized imprint, the Italian makes his Golden Wings debut with a sensational remix of ‘Mediterraneo’. Already supported by Anthony Pappa, Nick Warren and Hernan Cattaneo, the latter of which aired the remix during his famed Sunsetstrip set, this is certainly a remix you’ll be hearing a lot across 2024. Booming yet dreamy, its electric vibe instantly commands your attention, through snatches of panning chord stabs and siren-like synth flares, eventually arriving at a textural break to further enchant the listener. Here, its atmospheric energy turns over beautifully, as effects intensify and sonics swirl, cleverly co-axing for a hair-raising crescendo and suitably thunderous drop.

Magnetic brilliance is the key when creating phantasmic music designed for the deepest dungeons of the abyss. Garance wields the baton in front of the rouge orchestra and twenty electronic entities arise from the ashes and balance on a wide-angled platform above Universo. The world below is full of slanted creatures that writhe in hypnotic fumes, and none are quelled until the rest of the music presents itself. Universo is joined with Hypnolabo, Acting (with Karla & popsquiD), and Figure De Proue. Together these four forces comprise the masterful configuration that Garance has forged for the Tulipa gardens.

'With Waiting for Lazarus, Falkke marks his debut with No Way Records. This Ep is composed of three tracks ranging from the IDM of the title track, a piece in mid-tempo orchestrated around the vocal samples of Warp school, until the tresorian Archer, an open-air dancefloor track, dynamic and rhythmic by breaks that follow each other without stopping. Far On The Dike fits brilliantly into this Ep giving heterogeneity and eclecticism.
The three remixes extend the horizon even further, enriching the sound palette of Waiting for Lazarus with the pastel colors of Garance, and the metallic ones of Opposite Ways and Between Ourselves.
