Tibi Dabo unveils his long-awaited full-length ‘Vista’ on Crosstown Rebels this September, with the  kaleidoscopic nine-track album showcasing his diverse and rich sound palette.  

Born in Barcelona, DJ, producer, and musician Tibi Dabo has proven himself adept at mixing the classic and the cutting-edge. From  his early days touring Europe and the US with a band in which he plays the drums, the foundation for his experimentation for his work  within the electronic sphere, he has since grown to become an exciting and much-loved DJ and producer, adding to his growing  reputation as a Crosstown Rebels favourite. Stepping things up once more, his spirited new album ‘Vista’ is a perfect fusion of  futuristic synths and compelling house grooves, all of which are masterfully designed and full of character. Following three well received singles across the summer, the full-length is a complete sonic statement that explores deep house, leftfield sonics and  widescreen cosmic vistas.  

Opener ‘Water Is’ layers up fresh sound sources and playful melodies on nimble basslines that soon make you move. ‘Somewhere  Beach’ is then a silky groove layered up with diffuse pads and aching synths that convey real romance, while ‘Licht’ is another  masterful display of original drum programming with bursts of cosmic synth and elastic bass. ‘Useless Ideas’ then gets deeper on  more low-key drums and bass. Instead, the focus is on the deft percussion and well-treated vocals that swirl and smudge around the  mix to a woozy late-night effect.  

The elegant ‘Mundo’ channels the machine soul of early Detroit techno, before ‘Mangabeira Manifesto’ featuring Dudu Bongo layers  up wonky drums and bass with curling, soft acid sounds and a playful vocal line. There is heartbreak in the melancholic chords and  broken beat funk of ‘Diamond Baby’ while ‘Triple Frontier’ picks up the pace and heads out on a high-speed cosmic house journey, all  before ‘Overture’, another far-sighted astral trip with starry melodies and rich, rubbery bass, closes the package in fine style. 

An expressive and adventurous yet coherent long player with a range of moods, feelings and grooves taking you to all corners of the  house world, ‘Vista’ showcases Dabo’s most in-depth project to date and an album which provides the perfect platform for him to  display his rich sonic universe.

Catz ‘n Dogz make a standout debut on Crosstown Rebels with two compelling new house tracks on ‘Can’t Stand’, complete with a remix from leftfield innovator Robag Wruhme.

A pairing whose renowned reputation has been built and shaped across an illustrious career, Polish duo Grzegorz Demiañczuk and Wojciech Tarañczuk, aka Catz’ n Dogz, have been serving up their own diverse and varied take on house for more than fifteen years. Founders of their own Pets Recordings imprint, in that time they have released on esteemed labels, from Diynamic to Defected, Glitterbox to Watergate and more, while playing at almost every major club and festival across the globe. Their fresh in-between sounds and knack for cooking up curious and impactful sounds have made them mainstays of the scene, and that run of stellar releases continues here with a debut appearance on Crosstown Rebels as they link with ZenSoFly for ‘Can’t Stand’ - with longstanding German favourite Robag Wruhme on remix duties.

Opener ‘Can’t Stand’ sees the pair reunite with vocalist ZenSoFly, a talent they’ve worked with on notable hits like ‘Wave.’ Her vocals bring soul and attitude over a tight, rubbery and sleazy house beat, underpinned with a heavy bassline - providing the sort of chunky cut to lock in a dancefloor and make it march in unison.
Robag Wruhme has been a Pampa label mainstay and famously curveball producer for many years with his scintillating blend of minimalism, melody and unusual sound sources. That is the case again with this remix, a dark workout that hurries along on snappy drums, detuned vocals and scuzzed up, droning synths to ensure maximum impact.

The EP is closed out with ‘Wake Up’, a widescreen and atmospheric cut packed with detail. The bassline is taught, freaky vocals echo within the mix, and synths spray about to dramatic effect, delivering another full flavour house cut with a dark soul and futuristic designs.

Tibi Dabo returns with ‘Overture’, a third tantalising single from his forthcoming Crosstown Rebels album, with remixes from Map.ache and Aline Umber.

The first two singles from the project, ‘Triple Frontier’ and ‘Licht’, have shown what Barcelona’s Tibi Dabo is all about - forward-thinking electronic music with original drums (a result of him having toured the globe with his band) and plenty of cosmic twists and character. A label favourite having dropped his ‘Isla’ EP on Crosstown Rebels back in 2022, ahead of his much-anticipated debut LP comes this third superb taster from it.

The superb ‘Overture’ is an eight-minute gem with super smooth percussion and elastic grooves, with wispy sci-fi chords and gentle synth modulations. It’s full of future feels and catchy drum funk that is sophisticated and smartly detailed with choppedup vocal fragments.

First to remix is Leipzig’s Map.ache, co-founder of Kann Records and member of the Giegling family. His take builds with fatter drums that are just as infectious, while rippling synth loops weave in and out as flashy basslines cut loose and balmy pads add extra cosmic absence to a hypnotic mix of the heady and the physical.

Aline Umber, a collaborative live project from French composers, producers and DJs Aline Brooklyn and Aman Umber, are second to remix. They run the Airfunk label and are no stranger to playing cult spots like Rex Club in Paris. Their ‘23% Eventide’ mix is a blissed-out and synth-laced trip with subtle, smeared chords and starry-eyed keys that have you gazing off into the distance as you get lost in the warm drums.

Tibi Dabo drops his new single ‘Triple Frontier’ as he builds towards his much anticipated new album ‘Vista’  on Crosstown Rebels this September.  

Hailing from Barcelona but featuring as a globally touring artist within both electronic and non-electronic realms, Crosstown  Rebels favourite Tibi Dabo’s deep and wide-reaching sound palette sees the Spaniard sound palette reveal a collection of  gems spanning genres and styles. His longstanding passion for the electronic world is often supplemented by unorthodox and  obscure influences which see him journey deeper than most - something that was on show with the first snippet from his  forthcoming LP on recent single, ‘Licht’. Building upon that base and showcasing another side to his diverse sound, late July  brings the second single from the project as he reveals the tantalising sonics of ‘Triple Frontier’.

'We are very excited to welcome yet another new talent to Dirt Crew Recordings! J. Peacock is a Blackpool born artist, raised on Northern Soul and nurtured in the Manchester music scene. In 2015, he started making and releasing techno under the moniker Joel John. More recently, he has turned his focus closer to home, inspired by uplifting house music produced by friends, and sampling his favourite records played by his dad over the years. Last year he released a first collab track with Laurence Guy on “Shall Not Fade”.

J.Peacock's “The Praying Kind EP” marks a new musical chapter: combining nostalgia and dance floor energy. In his own words: “The goal was to just have fun, experimenting with a new way of making music to what I’ve been doing previously. Taking influence from artists I used to listen to constantly like Soundstream, Cottam, Boo Williams as well as artists close to me like Harry Wolfman and Laurence Guy. This record is about creating something that gives me flashbacks to my dad playing tunes in his flat.”

The opener “Philly Track” is a true original House tune reminiscent of those classic records in the early 90s, think of the Paris French wave sounds or New York style cut up and filtered “good times” dance floor hitters.'
