The initial idea for this track came right after DGTL ADE 2015, so this has been a long journey, even though most of that time it's just been untouched on my hard drive. Very happy to finally have it finished :)

The days had been long, full of demands and stressful liaisons. But at the end of the week, the hedonism would begin. The weekend brought with it a time for escape, to leave your troubles behind... at least momentarily. When the clock struck 5pm everyone made a beeline for the door, eager to squeeze as much euphoria out of the next two days as they possibly could. They weren't the only ones, across the world people watched the clocks each Friday, counting down the seconds until they could dive head first into self-indulgent activities. 

Following his remix for Sandboards on Feel My Bicep's eighth release, James Shinra steps up for his debut 12" that includes three remixes from R&S affiliate Benjamin Damage and John Beltran. Shinra feels perfectly at home on the imprint, his melodic synth lines and electro leaning sound delivering the feelings of euphoria we've come to expect from an FMB release.

Each Salin Records release is about telling a story and taking you on a journey. The day Sable Blanc told us about the idea of producing an EP based on the memories of a trip to New York City he made with three close friends in the summer of 2018 we instantly fell in love with this idea. After a few months of intense work, it became an LP - Sable Blanc‘s debut album and also a debut for Salin Records as this is the first album for the label.

Inspired by the beautiful colours, outstanding energy and peace all around New York City that specific summer, Sable Blanc produced „Homecoming“. Every track on the album is about memories and friendship. For two reasons it felt like coming home for him. He lived a few years in the US and went to high school there. It was amazing to come back and to also finally meet a very close friend again.

Sable Blanc chose a photo for each track - taken by his friend Adrien Philibert - which he associates with the moment that inspired him to the track. Daria Salin finally developed the photos as cyanotype, an analogue photo development and the same technique she used for the cover background. Together with the stories that Sable Blanc tells about each photo, the cyanotypes build an artistic booklet that is a special feature of the album.

Homecoming is an album for a quiet, cosy evening, where you sit back in your favourite chair and hold the booklet in your hand to follow Sable Blanc and his friends on their trip to New York City.

Black Jazz Consortium aka Fred P aka FP-ONER aka d- -b.  Few artists garner as much deserved attention and accolades as this former New Yorker.  Prolific as the day is long: delivering timeless afro-forms of rhythm and chorus: calling and responding to the past while in constant motion.  Fred P is a consortium, a coalescence of the past brought to this future present.  Like his body of work, it’s Hi-Tek soul distilled, complimented and reborn.  

Indelible artists have always borrowed from the greats. It’s the folk tradition that is the blues and jazz’s functional quality. To be spoken and expounded upon.  Evolution of Light is no different.  It stands on the shoulders of giants through four decades of contemporary American music.  Each Fred P release reminds us why this music of ours is the next iteration.  A linear addition to our endless chorus of drums, dance and soul. 

Evolution of Light isn’t so much an evolution of the past but a standard to hold alongside those who came before.

‘I Feel How This Night Should Look’ is an album with a phenomenal backstory. It spans back over a decade back to when Tom Coveney and Danny McLewin first met in 2008 and produced the ten tracks over an intensive two year period following the birth of Psychemagik.  It was recorded at a number of esteemed locations primed for sonic craft including Kate Bush’s old workspace, George Martin’s Air Studios Lyndhurst Hall, where the duo recorded a seventeen piece string section, and Toe Rag Studios recording drums onto tape.  

This album is a true labour of love.  The first taste comes via the effortlessly smooth and immediately deep ‘We Can Be One feat. Quinn Lamont Luke’.  An invigorating and ethereal cut offset with the acid rifts and the Balearic vocals by the New York artist.  ‘We Can Be One’ beautifully lays down the foundations and entry point into the endlessly unique and diverse world of Psychemagik.

Jonny Sriraxa & Luci B's indomitable sonic system, Nostalgia Futura is a project born during the first confinement period in Madrid, Spain, at the peak of the Covid-19 crisis. The overwhelming sensations of physical, social, and emotional detention painted the horizon with a nostalgic hue..."so we felt a certain type of nostalgia for this particular future..." And now, in their sets and performances, Jonny Sriraxa and LuciB aim to transmit the entirety of that accumulated energy through rhythms oriented towards the dance floor--evoking reflection through motion-- and flowing across a variety of genres, histories, and influences that fuse the old, new, and still-evolving.
