The latest release from Clubsonica Records welcomes Sergey Muzarks to the label for his debut single. Although his first release came in 2019, it was 2020 that saw the Russian artist break out with well received projects via Freegrant Music, Outta Limits and Soundteller Records. With a sound that continues to find favour with world class DJs such as Bobina, Miss Monique and Tiesto, the Russian artist has quickly established himself as one of his country's top up and coming progressive house producers. Now following a remix for ICONYC's Noir division, Sergey debuts on Clubsonica with 'Mirage' alongside remixes from Weird Sounding Dude and Luciano Scheffer.

The Original Mix gets the release underway and sits as one of Sergey's most emotive productions to date. Warm beats and a rolling groove set the foundation for a narrative of buoyant arps and detailed percussion. Pushing a poignant storyboard, vibrant tones and placid pads drift across the framework for emotive moments, before melting down into a glowing centrepiece. Free and flowing, the interlude spans nearly two minutes in length, gently building anticipation through pulsating rhythms and ethereal phrases, before a trail of melodic clusters and waves of noise cue a groovy finale.

Making his label debut and providing the first interpretation of 'Mirage' is Weird Sounding Dude. Based in Bangalore, the Indian artist has grown into one of his country's most beloved progressive house producers. As a firm favourite of the genre's most highly regarded tastemakers, Weird Sounding Dude has compiled an impressive discography with standout releases via Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music and Nick Warren's The Soundgarden. Now continuing what has been an inspired 2021, Weird Sounding Dude debuts on Clubsonica with a powerful take on 'Mirage'. The groove gets reworked into something more hypnotic, while a complement of icy pads, soulful vocal wails and effervescent percussion fill in the framework. Dubbier than its predecessor, the Indian artist opts for a sleeker yet equally captivating approach, building tension across the main break through waves of noise and timely modulation, before shifting energy into an enlightening finale.

Rounding out the release and providing the second and final interpretation of 'Mirage' is Luciano Scheffer who returns to the label for his third appearance. With a career that spans the better part of a decade, the Brazilian artist has earned support of Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, while showcasing his music on Antrim's Or Two Strangers, Droid9 and onedotsixtwo. Also a familiar face to Clubsonica fans, Luciano delivered two remixes across 2018 and 2019 for the Colombian imprint. Now making a welcome return to the label, the Sao Paulo resident dials in a stellar rendition of 'Mirage'. Full and driving, the groove delivers a hip swinging cadence, as clattering percussion and arpeggiated rhythms adorn the framework. Evolving effortlessly across the first act, icy pads provide waves of emotion, while hopeful atmospheres segue into the main break. Glowing synth swells highlight the centrepiece, delivering heartfelt moments, before a rush of beats and drums unite for a powerful drop. A gorgeous remix from Luciano which rounds out an impressive Clubsonica debut for Sergey Muzarks, an artist who continues to impress as 2021 moves into its second quarter.

Andrea Cassino has been a long-term contributor to the Proton Music catalogues in both solo and collaborative guises. After a 2017 debut with his "Divine" and 2019's "Losing Part of Me" EPs, the Argentinean based artist returns with his twin-track "Asante". In collaboration with Bueno Aries resident, Lio Q, signed to the likes of UV, Clubsonica Records and Nick Warren's The Soundgarden, Andrea & Cassino & Lio Q present "Asante".

The title track is a flowing rhythmic offering that explodes into life with syncopated motif and strong dancefloor character. Free-flowing synth phrases add a moment of contemplation that reach a zenith at the breakdown, while the second half continues the powerful rhythmic groove as bass, melody combine in hypnotic fashion. "Karibu" continues the exceptional percussive drive of its partner-track as an African-inspired melodic phrase adds context and sonic imagination. Pulsating gently as it weaves a path across a magical 9-minute voyage, shimmering synth plucks at the breakdown extend into the post-breakdown zenith along with a glorious array of uplifting counterpoint phrasing.

Producing from his Córdoba studio at the base of the Sierra Chicas mountains, Sebastian Sellares is an artist who has shone brightly since a 2018 debut for PHW Elements. Hitting the heights on the likes of UV, onedotsixtwo and Meanwhile, October 2020's "Jinsei / Zen State" was a Proton Music high point as the two original tracks were joined by remixes from Nick Muir and Matias Chilano. Now returning, the Sebastian Sellares remix is a powerful tour de force that grasps the themes central to the original and transforms "Asante" in a mesmerising and brooding club floor-filler that oozes class with its rhythmic intricacy and smooth melodic phrasing. Building effortlessly into the breakdown, chord changes and rousing crescendo pave the way for the rhythmic intensity and dramatic melodies to make their presence felt in the third movement to devastating effect.

A Proton Music debutant, Gaston Ponte has already demonstrated his considerable talent on an array of blue-chip labels and a double century of production credits on the likes of Balkan Connection, Soundteller Records and Stellar Fountain. Mentored by Andrea Cassino, it is not difficult to hear the skill and craftsmanship that has gone into the Argentinean's reworking of "Asante". Through a combination of intelligent use of the component sounds found in the original plus impressive new production material, the Gaston Ponte remix glistens with a new melodic narrative with its roots firmly in Cassino & Lio Q's track. A pulsating and rasping bassline add to the dynamic interpretation in the second half to create a club-friendly offering that is certain to have global appeal.

A stellar career within the electronic music industry has seen Jamie Stevens rise to the very top of his profession. Making his full Meanwhile EP debut, the 3-track "Circles" continues his illustrious story.

A double ARIA winning artist with iconic live act, Infusion, Jamie Stevens' solo career is no less impressive. A veteran of the global DJ circuit with performances at Womb (Tokyo), Fabric (London) and across his native Australia and Melbourne hometown, Stevens has continued to see productions feature regularly in the upper echelons of the progressive house chart.

With almost 400 production credits to his name, Dave Seaman's Selador, John Digweed's Bedrock and Guy J's Lost and Found have all played host to the unique Jamie Stevens sound on multiple occasions as he continues to go from strength to strength. A meticulous approach to his production work and unrivalled attention to detail is coupled with a wider ability to see the bigger musical picture and his music infused with warm tonality and rich rhythmic patterns.

Returning to Meanwhile after a remix of Roger Martinez's "Cosmic Drum" in late 2020, the "Circles" title track is characterised by a pounding club-friendly beat, while shades of Giorgio Moroder shimmer through the percussive groove and syncopated melodic elements. Building in hypnotic patterns, vocal shouts and a liberal sprinkling of reverse reverb effects and white-noise washes, join forces in a glorious harmony to create a typically impressive body-shaking floor-filler.

The aptly titled "Storm Front" quickly emerges with a subtle tension imbued within it. Continuing on the same mesmerising footing as its predecessor, an immaculately crafted groove, redolent in sub-bass and off-beat percussive roll, powers through the 8-minute timeframe. Subtly synthesised and reverb drenched vocal cuts shimmer across the upper-range throughout, making their presence fully felt at the breakdown before the driving elemental force of the central groove drops back into place through the seething third movement.

The final musical image of the sonic triptych has a softer musical vibe brought about by a swathe of complementary harmonic phrases. A beautiful central motif marries elegantly with a smooth vocoded vocal that gently sings the "Stuck on a Feeling" title. Rising and falling with ease Stevens evokes a warm summer evening vibe with his beautiful arrangement. Where the opening pair of tracks hypnotized through powerful rhythmic structures, the final track oozes spellbinding warmth with its glittering array of analogue synth phrasing.

Three "Circles" find Jamie Stevens drawing a vivid sonic picture that elegantly shows the logical relation between rhythm, melody and energy in a precise musical Venn diagram.

Now coming together for a very special collaboration, Ezequiel and Interaxxis present '2 AM', a track heard extensively this year in the sets of Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy J, Guy Mantzur and Sahar Z. With their first collaborative project Artfaq and Ezequiel Arias land on Cid Inc's Replug Records with 'Babel'. Hailing from Cordoba, Nacho Ferroni and Nacho Varela make up the Artfaq production team. The Argentinean duo have found favour amongst progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, while finding a home on Antrim's rapidly rising Or Two Strangers imprint. Similarly, upon making his debut in 2013, Cordoba resident Ezequiel Arias quickly became a favourite of the two storied DJs as well, eventually leading to releases on Guy Mantzur's Plattenbank Records, Sudbeat Music and Suara. Also a member of the Replug artist roster, Ezequiel made his label debut in November of 2017 with a contribution to the 'Defined 01' collection. Now making a welcome return to the Finnish imprint, Ezequiel pairs with label debutants Artfaq for a highly anticipated EP. 

Comprised of two tracks it's the title piece 'Babel' which leads the release off.  Putting your emotional centres on high, a bed of warm beats and hip swinging rhythms set the stage for a full, driving groove. Redolent effects add an astral charm as the first act unfolds, while fragmented melodies are gently teased as the main break commences. Coming to full realization yet tastefully indistinct, it's a musical narrative for the astute connoisseur, delivering a profound emotional message before smoothly transitioning into a groovy finale. 

Rounding out the EP is the equally stunning 'Polaroid'. In crafting a smooth rolling groove, the Argentinean trio have fashioned a strong foundation, complemented with hypnotic pulses and percussive drive. Charming in design and emotive in delivery, harmonic phrases slowly engulf the framework, carrying the piece into joyous second act. As the bassline melts down, melodic motifs converge, opening up for moments of exuberant warmth and hopeful reflection, before a pulsating final act unites rhythm and groove for devastating dance floor dynamics.  It caps off a hugely successful collaborative project from three of Argentina's most highly touted artists. A meeting of music minds where the end result further cements Replug's ethos of delivering unique and exciting projects.

Ezequiel Arias & Artfaq - Babel [Replug]

Cid Inc's Replug Records opens the 2019 summer season by welcoming Alex O'Rion to the label for his debut EP. As one of the Netherlands most highly regarded and sought after artists, the Nijkerk resident has found a home on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music, where he has released three artist EPs since making his debut in January of 2018. Also a highly regarded DJ, Alex has programmed music for some of the world's most iconic clubs, namely Ministry Of Sound and Fabric. Now fresh off a Spring release for Nick Warren's Hope Recordings, the Dutch artist lands on Replug for his debut EP entitled ‘Marathon'. 

Continuing what has been a remarkable year for Alex is the EP's opener and title selection ‘Marathon'. Enticing from the start, it's perfectly sculpted beats are warm and powerful, anchoring what is a rippling, free flowing foundation. Crafted with precision and care, layers of hypnotic percussion are blanketed with swirling atmospherics, ghostly vocal edits and fragmented melodies. Intrigue peaks as the main break unfolds, with hazy harmonic concepts and granular design uniting for an exhilarating apex, before ushering in a groovy drop and emotive finale. 

The journey continues with the driving vibes of ‘Blaze'. Immediately captivating, it's billowing bass tones and finely tuned percussion play off a robust rhythmic core, making for a devilish, hip swinging groove. It's hypnotic appeal grows subtly, as vocal fragments and luminous tones add an emotive slant to what is an already mystical storyboard. Almost like a sonic comet, it's fiery energy melts down into a break of muted beats and astral designs, before a collage of tripped out harmonics sets the stage for an otherworldly conclusion.

The release is capped off in fine fashion with the introspective moods of ‘L'Arbre Des Contes'. Expertly joining the past to the future, Alex marries sophisticated melodic motifs with meditative rhythms and tranquil textures. It's a unique and highly engaging storyboard, perhaps one of the Dutch artist's most heartfelt to date in fact, a creation to cherish for special occasions and no doubt a highly memorable selection for your dance floor. Groovy and emotive in equal measure, it rounds out what is an astute collection of music from Alex O'Rion, making for yet another extraordinary addition to Replug's impeccable discography.

Serendeep Opens the 13th Chapter by warmly welcoming Liam Sieker with the debut release ‘Good Intentions'. Born in Melbourne, Australia, Liam is well known for his regular appearances at My Aeon, Brown Alley, Babylon Festival, Rabbits Eat Lettuce, Esoteric. He has also released music on the finest imprints such as Nick Warren's The Soundgarden and Matan Caspi and Stan Kolev's Revolt Music & Tripswitch's Onedotsixtwo many others. Not known to many Mike Rish one of the best upcoming producers, his unique style of production got him to labels such as Bunny Tiger Dubs, Colorize.

The atmospheric percussive quality supported by the growling baseline makes ‘Good Intentions' headliner of the release. A deeper yet fierce piece through a musical storyboard with an implicit sense of adventure, Mike's remix pushes the boundaries in sound-design and complex rhythms within the existing framework of the original. Ideally following deeper sounds soundscape, flowing through tasteful modulation ‘Understanding' closes the 23 Min EP.

'Proton Music regulars and a thoroughly talented duo, LADS consistently astonish with their unique song-making and production abilities. June 2020's "Stoyote" was no exception and it is therefore a pleasure to see a return to the EP via a pair of stunning remixes from US and Greek artists.

Simos Tagias is an artist with a long and growing history with Proton Music. Able to point to well over a triple century of production credits, the Greek artist's work for Mango Alley, Replug and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat, sees an artist at the summit of the progressive house scene with a distinctive and mature sound. As such, Proton has been a regular home for Simos Tagias with a pair of original EPs that began with 2017's twin-track "Airlock" and continued with 2018's "Audacity". Furthermore, a host of remixes for the likes of Soulwerk, Tim Penner and, most recently, Dimuth K's "Beams Aglow" in March 2020, have impressed. Now, taking on the title track, the Simos Tagias remix of "Stoyote" is a typically dynamic affair that bristles with percussive flair via machine-gun fire hi-hats and seismic kick. Building in rhythmic layers, melodic elements from the original float across the eight-minute piece in familiar refrains as an array of additional production material and reverb-coated effects pan across the stereo spectrum with ease. An effortless rolling groove adds to the sonic collage in club-friendly splendour via a remix that is testament to Simos Tagias' skill and craft.'
