'What connects a rare species of North American owl to an endangered tribe in Indonesia? Join the dots of these seemingly disparate elements and you will uncover the new release from Ronan O Ciosoig. The musical maverick previously responsible for Ron's Mobile Disco project returns with a sublime EP of lush tech deepness that displays the same innovative sound design that has made his two earlier EPs become sought-after crate diggers delights.

During the naughties the producer built a loyal following as Ron’s Mobile Disco touring across Europe, culminating in him headlining Witness Festival in front of some 40,000 revellers. Residencies in clubs like Red Box (Tripod), Dublin and later briefly Pontoon club in Cambodia demonstrated his aptitude as a selector. The producer moved to Barcelona in 2003 and started a family, despite production taking a back seat in this period he quickly established a residency at the highly regarded Zentraus (BCN) and DJ’d across Europe between 2003-2008. His two EPs, Subconscious Threat (2001) and Pilobactor (2002) originally on the One Louder imprint retrospectively became collectors’ items, and tracks were selected from them to be re-released via the Seven Hills label. These sold out immediately proving the surge of demand for his unique sound and fuelling his decision to relaunch the One Louder label.

His label returns with a brand-new project showcasing his growth as a producer. Working under the new artist name Surnio (Surnia is the species of North American owl) the EP explores a deeper house-influenced sound but is marked by the same astute sound design and intricacies that gained the acclaim of underground collectors and DJs in the know previously. Lead track ‘Sadukei' (Named after the endangered Sakkudei tribe in Indonesia) is full of shimmering stabs, slowly evolving melodies, and deft Balearic touches. It demonstrates exactly why his previous work has been in such demand and is an exhilarating return to the scene. On board for remix duties, is none other than deep house and techno Godfather Funk D' Void. The Barcelona-based Glaswegian delivers a trademark slice of aquatic deepness, complete with undulating chimes, reverb-drenched pads and fizzing keys. With both tracks bound to do damage on the deeper floors, One Louder is back with a bang...'
