A new artist collective will be gracing the nightlife scene this April, as five of melodic dance music’s leading talents combine their efforts under a single, unified banner. Emanuel Satie, Maga, Sean Doron, Tim Engelhardt and Yulia Niko make up Scenarios, the collective, record label and event series. The label’s inaugural release takes the form of the two-track Here To Stay EP. The first instalment sees three of the five members collaborate on Here To Stay, a meandering, emotionally-charged offering packed full of poignant chords and textured drum patterns throughout. It feels introspective and danceable in one, paving the way for a similarly moving number in the form of You & I, Paradise. This time DUDDHA’s mesmeric vocals create an achingly beautiful soundscape, one that winds with a gentle lucidity through resonant synths and a driving lead bassline. Individually, they are known as Maga, Sean Doron, Yulia Niko, Tim Engelhardt and Emanuel Satie, each of whom are established performers in their own right. Together, they become Scenarios. Their mantra is simple: to create and implement a unique genre of music, one that offers an unparalleled event experience. As a collective, their beliefs and outlooks are shared - allowing them to truly grow as one whilst maintaining their individuality as independent artists. Born in France and now based in Portugal, Maga’s discography boasts releases on some of dance music's most widely recognised labels, including Flying Circus and Get Physical. Israel’s Sean Doron has found a welcome home on Damian Lazarus’ Rebellion imprint over the years, whilst his Monochrome event series continues to go from strength to strength. The track is driven by a solemn and catchy spiritual dialogue, bristling melodies and grounded by burning percussions that take us into a unique experience that travels into the roots of the earth and the unknown, this immersive journey is a rebirth of the mind and soul, manifested through the prophecy of the ancestral sound.

Clemente is a spanish producer and DJ who has committed his whole life to music. After spending his past years embracing numerous musical projects, he finally jumped into the electronic music industry, unifying his passion for synths and tribal sounds in an artistic audiovisual concept.

His vibrating tracks bring together the classic sounds of the most avant garde deep house mixing them with groovy rhythms, creating electrical atmospheres and mind blowing melodies. Always loyal to the pure club sound, he conceives a magical blend of black soul, energy dance music and exotic shades, influenced by the underground vibes of Berlin and the spirituality of other native cultures from Spain. He experiments with and cruises through every music genre in his own personal corner, his studio located near the Mediterranean coast of Valencia. Implementing into his tracks the sound of his piano, guitar, bass and percussion, with the philosophy of inspiring other souls with his music.

Yamil has been delivering high quality House and Deep House for the last years, steadily forging his reputation as a DJ, Producer, Label Owner and Artist with a unique musical visioning. Currently based between Madrid and Aranda de Duero (Burgos) his personal sound travels across the globe creating special moments through his original music or dj sets. Already a household name in Berlin, with gigs at Watergate, Sisyphos and more under her belt, Stil Vor Talent regular Deer Jade returns to production with new vigour on an exciting collaboration with Dominican producer Vander. His sound is distinctive yet diverse, dancing between Afro-Latin influences, synthwave and the darker side of disco which we can hear on releases via Pipe & Pochet, Discos Tabu and Klassified. 

‘Intergalactic Tango’ instantly teleports you to a dreamy destination with use of Mâhfoud’s exotic synth work and Moroccan sounding organ chords. Jade’s sensual vocals encourage you to keep exploring the sonic landscape of this daytime lounge record. Perfect for the warmer days and nights ahead. 

The package comes with two fantastic remixes, the first from Parisian duo Chambord, who take a bit more of a deeper approach to the track and creates an ethereal atmosphere. The gentle arp keeps the rhythm moving and pairs perfectly with the stripped back percussion.

The second from Pandhora who take the original on a more dancefloor focused approach. There is a distinct contrast between the deep / groovy bassline and the smoother, almost jazzy chord progression. Replacing the organ chords with funk guitar strums adds a subtle French flare to their edit.  The trio unleash a heavenly sound together. A unique release with deep squelchy bass combined with a striped back groove for a Latin-infused masterclass.

'Sounds Of Khemit returns with another carefully curated collection of sounds that are steeped in ancient mysticism.

Says the label of the inspiration for this latest collection, "The Ancient Khemitian Master Khnum is associated with water and procreation. Her name Khnoom, as the hieroglyphs depict, means the dweller - the one that lives in or at a specified place. Khnum is seen as the source of the Nile and with her potter’s wheel she created the bodies of humans and other gods from the abundant clay."

First up is Mexican Roderic, a producer and a live performer with a love of house that ranges from the deep to more tech-edged. His 'Magma' is a widescreen affair with melancholic chords draped over loose, hip-swinging beats. Soft shakers and all sorts of organic percussion pepper the groove as wispy chords continue to make for an alluring late-night vibe.

Next are Liife & Kem Otto, a pair who have collaborated many times and always cook up spiritual and organic sounds with emotional depth. Their glorious 'Magic Carpet' carries you away on lush and upbeat piano chords as the scuffed up beats swing low. Shimmering vocal chants heighten the track's entrancing atmosphere and lock you in for the most spine-tingling of rides.

Lastly, Turu Anasi is a talented organic house and downtempo producer with numerous fine releases on labels like Cosmic Awakenings and Pipe & Pochet. His 'Iry Hor' is a slow, seductive and purposeful track with cavernous drums and smooth late-night chords. There is magic in the air as the synths dance above the firmly rooted groove and the effect is one that will have you lost deep in the dance.

This is another stylish collection of musical and moving house tunes. ‘Magma’ will be dropping on 20th May followed by ‘Magic Carpet’ on 27th May and finally ‘Ivy Hor’ on 31st May.'

Chambord - Life Is Strange (Lunar Plane Remix) [WAYU]

Member of the RISE collective and label co-founder Hyenah returns to his RISE imprint this July with a debut album: Love In Times Of Crisis. The twelve-track LP contains twelve individual collaborations, featuring a global selection of artists.

The enigmatic producer spoke on his ethos behind making music, as well as describing the global context that brought about the LP: “Hyenah spreads the message of unity and equality, filling dancefloors with love and joining communities from Durban to Tokyo, Copenhagen to Sao Paulo. Whilst things may have come to a halt in 2020, the artist behind the visor continued to work on a musical vision: and now it’s about to be released. Love In Times Of Crisis is a collaboration with friends and colleagues from all over the world.”

The Rite begins proceedings, upping the tempo gently via tribal percussion and Sweden’s Ernesto & The Basement Gospel’s inspiring vocals before forthcoming single The Balance soon arrives. A collaborative effort between Hyenah, Canary Islander Pablo Fierro and South African spoken-word artist Lazarusman, it’s a club-ready number, perfect for delighting dancefloors thanks to electrifying synths and tension-building breakdowns.

Amazi Wakho is the only solo production on the LP, gifting us an insight into Hyenah’s world through minimal bass tones and subtle kick-hat pairings. Afrika Elektra then takes its place, as we welcome the late-great NYC linchpin Lamont Booker AKA eLBee BaD who delights us with an enchanting soliloquy throughout. Gifting us his last-ever song, he paves the way for The Message (Soul Version). Another promising collaboration, this time German-born poet Bajka reminds us that “they can’t stop us now”, inspiring listeners with her innately touching voice, whilst the rhythmic feel of Moood soon lands.

Another leading New Yorker, Patricia Baloge’s singing transports us to euphoric realms, as the track builds swiftly into The Manifesto. It bridges both Afro-house and melodic worlds, retaining an inherent late-night edge throughout, before This Is Your Love (Club Mix) sees Netherlands-artist and Crosstown Rebels inductee Nanghiti sing amongst delicate pads and a pulsing underlying bassline, opening neatly into You Can’t Hide. Chugging along with a natural groove, techy synths compliment the transcendent tones of ‘African Nomad’ and RISE co-creator Floyd Lavine.

Swedish crooner Ernesto & The Basement Gospel appears once again on Devil’s Advocat, as raw drums reside next to authentic, Afro-inspired percussion. Rain Queen acts as the album’s penultimate number, taking the form of a wonderful closing saga courtesy of RISE-regular G-Washington, whilst Life's Plan soon brings things to a close with Demetrius’ vocals leaving us warm, hopeful and inspired.

Hyenah is an artist creating musical transitions between African house music and the western scene. While creating his own signature sound, he has become a strong ambassador for diversity in the music industry. With his regular RISE events at Watergate in Berlin, Hyenah was one of the first people to push the sound in Europe and promote the movement by organising RISE showcases worldwide.

Movement being the key word here. It is not a solo undertaking: Hyenah is simply a part of the RISE collective. There is a togetherness in this community, one that isn’t governed by a specific head or individual. Each artist and clubgoer plays their part in growing such a scene, forming a common desire to develop as one unified body.

Love In Times Of Crisis exemplifies this mission, further raising awareness and helping to showcase different musical cultures. It allows the listener to appreciate diversity through music, empowering producers and building bridges between continents as a result.
