Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune and Annie Mac’s Hottest Record - six years almost to the day since that ultra-tease of a start, Sasha and Sentre’s anxiously awaited ‘Track 10’ is unleashed at last, dropping September 23 rd on Last Night On Earth. Emerging now out of the white heat of LNOE’s project of ten Sasha collaborations celebrating ten years of standout releases and events, this blissed out cut originally became a secret weapon in Sasha’s sets; won Radio 1’s highest accolades of Hottest Record in the World and Essential New Tune; and caused uproar online with fans who wondered when, if ever, it would be released.

‘Track 10’ attacks on multiple fronts, from the retro-computer SFX background electro-birdsong to the stripped-back riff, the long intro hooking all ears before the fast, full-on euphoric beats and yearning vocals finish the job in a hands up, ecstatic club dance frenzy.

The US artist has made big strides in recent years. A Duke University graduate, he got his big break touring with Acivii and Above & Beyond while still a student. Since then, he's releases for Anjunadeep, LNOE and more and continued to tour the world taking in major festivals such as Tomorrowland, EDC and Creamfields and headlining clubs as far-flung as India, Brazil and Australia. 

Fellow future hero, Ezequiel Arias has graced the label a number of times, his panoramic soundscapes and creative beats finding their home in DJs playlists the world over. A prolific producer, he has releases covering many big imprints including Replug, Anjunadeep, and ICONYC to name but a few. 

'Mad Rush' begins hypnotically. Plucky polyrhythms plunder the senses as percussive power surrounds. Growing organically to a place of euphoria, piano chords rain out amid showers of reverbed white noise signalling the whole rooms united desire to touch the stars. 'Slow Burn does exactly what it says. Starting ambiantly, percussive layers grow the energy over the opening section. With the bass comes new plateaus and stylish sonic sublayers that fill out the melodics. Reaching critical mass by the main break, orchestral pads create a calm before all hell breaks loose in the second half. Absolute progressive mastery.

Wrapping up this eventful year for Last Night On Earth - we have one more release that we have been treasuring for months now. Off the back of ‘Nalo’ - his collaboration with Sasha on the LNOE TEN compilation - Lake Turner will be making his solo LNOE debut next month with his four-track EP; ‘Further Now’.

Andrew Halford aka Lake Turner is a London-based musician who previously made music in post-punk and indie groups Great Eskimo Hoax (Rallye) and Trophy Wife (Moshi Moshi). His debut full length ‘Videosphere’ was released on Kompakt in 2020 receiving plaudits from The Guardian. It was the first time he fully articulated his own vision of electronic music. 

The kaleidoscopic  ‘Further Now’ EP showcases Lake Turner’s ever expanding sonic palette in the electronic realm, and brings some fresh angles - including a triumphant collaboration with Brazilian producer Gui Boratto. 

Lake Turner: "Working with Gui on Repeater was super special for me;  his music was a gateway into the electronic world I currently operate in. He was one of the first electronic producers I heard using guitars in techno music & as a guitar player it signalled to me that it was acceptable to do so. Ironically there's no guitars in the track we made together but do feel like what we've created is fresh out of the can."

Here, we peek into a dreamy, hazy soundscape of magical musicality. Timeless smiley vibes creep in effortlessly while warm tones delicately wobble and dance across a gently evolving gem of a track but with a tripped-out slant. Dancefloor Romancer are premiering the track on 14th December (link tbc).

Picking up the energy is 'Curious Of Humble'. This melancholic beauty is a sensual affair that packs a serious punch. A fusion of timeless chord progressions and fresh production, with dirty tweaks unfurls before our eyes and ears.

The much loved Artche steps up on remix duties of 'Silvia's Calling' to complete the EP. His work on Anjunadeep, Oddity, Pryda and ATLANT and with Cristoph, OC & Verde and Franky Wah has created serious waves these last few years chalking up four Beatport #1’s; he’s the perfect choice for this re-work. Taking things straight to the Dancefloor, this punchy yet spacious remix really utilizes key elements from the original, but brings some mind-melting dancefloor sensibilities to proceedings, delivering yet another outstanding club masterpiece. Many musical duos and double acts thrive in the underground the scene, including Hernan playing back to back performances with UKs Nick Warren and the legendary Sasha and John Digweed. Two heads are always better than one, and this have never been truer than for Luke Brancaccio and Gai Barone, who, separately, have soundtracked our scene for many years. Together, their music graces the back catalogues of everyone from seminal labels like Bedrock and Selador right through to new imprints such as Music To Die For.

'Until the End' is classically progressive with swinging beats, huge orchestral swells and epic e-moments aplenty. Building towards the first break, the music reaches fever-pitch before dubbing out in the mid section. After the oasis-like middle, energy ramps up for the epic finale. Hot on the heels of a 3-track inclusion on the third instalment of John Digweed’s Quattro series on Bedrock comes a barnstorming remix package commemorating Aubrey’s very first Bedrock release, the Dystopia EP Remixes. The 3-tracks - Tyrant (Four Candles remix), Nature (The Morning Factory remix), and Topaz (Synthetic remix) have been causing a stir from DC10 to E1 (where Aubrey is DJing at the infamous annual Bedrock Easter bank holiday party in April).
It isn’t uncommon for people to take a break from dance music and make a subsequent comeback, but not many people take a 15-year break in the Welsh wilderness then sign all 5 of their first completed productions to a prestigious imprint such as Bedrock. Up steps Aubrey Fry who did just that, following the purplest of production patches during the pandemic
First came inclusion on John Digweed’s gargantuan 2021 Bedrock mix compilation sequel, Quattro II, with the track Hard featuring alongside contributions from luminaries including Robbert Babicz, Josh Wink, Darren Emmerson, Bushwacka!, Miles Atmospheric, and Quivver.
This was shortly followed by his first solo release for the label in May 2021 with the 4-track Dystopia EP, featuring the tracks, Nature, Tyrant, Topaz and Dystopia. The EP successfully shows off the contrasting sides of Aubrey’s productions, with elements of breaks, techno, and electronica juxtaposed to great effect for audiophile listeners and dancefloors alike.
Then there was The Loop (also included on the recent vinyl only RPM01 release on Bedrock, which created so much industry heat (labelled a “masterpiece” by Dave Clarke), the phone at Bedrock HQ did not cease to ring as DJs scrambled to find out what it was having heard John close with it at show after show.
On top of all this there’s a been a delicious 2-track EP collaboration with fellow Bedrock artist Four Candles for Somersville Records and there is a raft of top-secret Aubrey Fry releases and collaborations in the pipeline for 2023.
