The year is 2k21 and we're looking back at the strangest, most disconcerting and disheartening year in the history of electronic dance music, maybe even the history of the entire music industry ever. With no shows, no open dancefloors, no festivals, no clubs and no gatherings the past 12 months took a draining and constraining toll on everyone on the scene and the Hive Audio label crew certainly is no exception, but...

...we survived, we are still here, we re-adjusted, re-evaluated and we are ready to cope with the recent status quo as long as it's needed, with a strong release schedule and big plans in place for 2k21. Yet despite all the madness we, you and all of us dealt with we also happened to release a bunch of tunes throughout the last year, tunes that probably didn't make it to (m)any dancefloors given the circumstances but still are as strong, powerful and most of all uplifting as they used to be when they were released.

So here they are again – or at least a few of them which are what we consider to be the „Best Of 2020“, the tunes that defined the sound of  Hive Audio throughout the year that has passed, the cuts that made us smile, move and shake our bodies in isolation and we hope that they gonna make you shake yours as well - no matter if your in for uplifting House, groove-focused, melodic TechHouse or deep late night (Neo)Trance.

Andrew Reynolds debuts on Montreal imprint DIALNINE with a sumptuous remix of Hillel Shabtai's ‘Jump Up'. The London-based producer twists the original sublimely with his signature house touch, turning in a lush, deep cut with an irresistible groove, deft keys and delightful atmospheric touches.

Reynolds is a classically trained, award-winning music producer/composer, signed to Ninja Tune and a fixture at the prestigious Secretsundaze Studios, his pedigree is undeniable and with much more on the way, 2022 looks set to be a breakout year for the rising artist.

Aprapta Music’s first release of 2019 is from Ramona Yacef and includes a fine remix from Basti Grub. Parisbased Yacef belongs to the We Play The Music We Love crew and has released on labels like Celo Rec, 324Records, Baile Musik and more, while Kerri Chandler is also a fan.
the opener Enceladus is a deep, absorbing house number with well crafted kicks rolling with dub warmth. Icy hi-hats and snappy chords join the mix to make this a slick bit of dancing music. The always hard to predict Basti Grub remixes with his intricate groove, flipping the cut into a superb bit of minimal with wood block hits,watery droplets and alien vocals all getting under your skin. Le Soleil is the next original and is a hard hitting bit of stripped back house. It’s perfect for those cosy clubs andlate night moments, with the bare elements all making a real mark. Last of all, Milky Way closes out the tastefulEP with another paired down house track that is all about supple and subtle synth lines, barely there rhythms and late night hypnoses, while the chords add soul. This is a killer EP once more from this leading underground house label.

Manchester-based producer @jozef-k has remixed the new single "Out Of Distance" (due to be released via UK label @constantcircles on December 12th) from Swiss/Turkish producer @onurozman and he transforms the track into an 8+ minutes long blissful affair of grooved out deep house with an acid-tinged sound.

'After two successful contributions to our SPIRALS compilations with his unique and edgy sound, fast rising artist Onur Özman delivers his first full artist EP to coincide with the first vinyl release on the label, with two original tracks that are a testament to his well honed production skills, blurring the lines between house & techno and filled with subtle nuances and emotive melodics. These are accompanied by two stellar remixes, firstly from Jozef K who follows releases on Last Night On Earth and W&O Street Tracks with a dreamy acid tinged rework.
