Presenting their second release of the year, Antrim’s Or Two Strangers welcomes Sebastian Sellares back to the label for a new EP. The Cordoba resident has been one of the imprints core artists since first appearing in 2019, with five original productions released over the course of a prolific sixteen month stretch. UK behemoth Anjunadeep, Cid Inc’s Replug Records, GMJ and Matter's Meanwhile and US powerhouse Proton Music have also served as landing spots for the Argentine's mesmerizing productions, while progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren continue to champion his sound. With the year being highlighted by the recently released Replug vehicle ‘Sky Above’, a joint EP project produced alongside fellow countryman Ezequiel Arias, Sebastian now returns to Or Two Strangers with a three track showcase entitled ‘Blizzard’.

EP opener and title selection ‘Blizzard’ finds Sebastian operating at the peak of his creative powers. Fuelled by tough driving beats and layers of hypnotic percussion; it’s Sebastian’s stirring melodies which ultimately shape the piece into a memorable dance floor slam. Colourful cascades emerge leading into the main break, sitting in an emotional headspace and bringing with them trails of balmy atmospherics and effervescent effects, before eventually breaking off into a drop of rebounding rhythms and heartwarming chord changes.

Selection two ‘Elements of Nature’ lands with an equally impressive display of craftsmanship. Sebastian re-affirms his ability to tip a late-night dance floor over the edge, with wobbly grooves and hip-swinging percussion laying the foundation for misty atmospheres and smoky instrumentation. Sitting comfortably in an ethereal yet thought provoking space, thumping beats rise out of a soulful strum-led break into an ever-evolving, free form finale.

The EP’s final selection ‘Hypnotica’ finds Sebastian continuing to diversify his portfolio with a whimsical creation that’s nicely dialled for the sunrise hours. Deeper in design and highly stylized in delivery, its beautifully contoured, funk-fuelled groove sets the course for incandescent melodies and otherworldly harmonics to create a panoramic musical skyline. Often celebrated for his ability to create emotional themes, Sebastian has ventured further with the ‘Blizzard’ collection, into a time of true innovation, traversing a multitude of realms and dimensions within the progressive spectrum, while excelling throughout.

Madloch's Sound Avenue rounds out the month of July by welcoming Forty Cats back to the label for her debut EP. With well over a decade's worth of DJ experience, Russian artist Christina Gavrilova aka Forty Cats has been a fixture of her country's nightlife, sharing the stage with Jody Wisternoff, Nick Warren, Yotto, Dave Seaman and more. Christina's production debut landed three years ago via 8bit Music, and in relatively short order the Russian artist has gone on to release projects via Lane 8's This Never Happened, Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music and Mango Alley. Also finding a home on Sound Avenue, Forty Cats opened the year with a remix of 'Dreaming Home' by Eric Lune, before going on to re-imagine Nopi's 'Hookan Idyll' a few short months later. Now as we enter the year's third quarter, Forty Cats returns to Sound Avenue with her first EP project entitled 'Forest Beast', alongside remixes from Berni Turletti and Weird Sounding Dude.

Providing the first remix of 'Forest Beast' is Berni Turletti who makes his label debut. Perhaps best known for his releases on Or Two Strangers, Higher States, Sudbeat Music and The Soundgarden, Berni Turletti brings a unique energy and perspective to progressive music. With the backing of Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, the Argentinean artist has been tipped as one of the genre's future stars. With a 2021 highlighted by projects for Droid9, Plattenbank and Mango Alley, the Cordoba resident now adds Sound Avenue to his resume with a gorgeous rendition of 'Forest Beast'. Berni sustains an understated yet confident club energy, reshaping the groove into a funk-fuelled delight, while creamy piano's fade in and out of coherence against a backdrop of evolving textures and enlightening vocal fragments. Looking to bring further emotion to the narrative, the main break melts down to an array of incandescent melodies, planting gentle splashes of serotonin across the one-minute interlude, before ultimately giving way to a soothing finale.

An artist with a storied history within the Proton Music canon, Juan Deminicis has been a regular contributor to the label's catalogue for over a decade. Now returning, "Cycles" represents another slice of progressive heaven with a delightful twin-track offering.

Beginning his Proton Music relationship with January 2012's "Downshifting", an array of original material has since flowed from the fingertips of Juan Deminicis. 2013's "Behind the Sun" soon followed before a 5-year hiatus then resumed with November 2018's "Life on the Moon", June 2020's "Synchronicity" and July 2021's "Water / Rebellion".

A regular on an array of blue-chip labels including Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music, Pablo Bolivar's Seven Villas and Guy J's Lost & Found, the Argentinean star has been flying high in a rarefied atmosphere for almost 15 years.

The "Cycles" title track opens with a sublime trademark rolling groove that wends its way easily atop luscious pads and breathy vocal ‘ahhs'. Crisp hi-hats provide a dynamic vibrancy while a syncopated bassline adds dancefloor energy. Pausing at the breakdown a beautiful piano sequence flows in subtle beauty, combined with atmospheric field recordings. Easing back into the club-friendly groove in the third movement, new melodic sequences enter the fray to create a stunning musical masterpiece.

With its heavy beat and traditional off-beat hi-hat pattern, "Samhadi" soon bristles with emotion as a female vocal sings delicately across proceedings. Perfectly accompanied by twinkling delayed keys, a lilting melody drifts across the early phrases. As the rhythmic elements emerge unencumbered at the mid-point, a beautifully sculpted piano motif creates a moment of melancholy before evolving into the second half. Alongside the vocal phrase and other melodic elements, the track flows to a natural conclusion in a glorious display of production craftsmanship.

Returning to Proton Music, Juan Deminicis' "Cycles" continues to oversee an ever-impressive musical evolution.

Presenting their third release of the year, pad records unveils the third installment of their ‘Exoplanet’ series. As an annual project for the Argentinean imprint, the ‘Exoplanet’ series has become a much anticipated release in the labels schedule. Landing in 2020, Volume One has the distinction of being the first ever release on the label, while Volume Two landed in August of last year and featured an expansive eleven exclusive tracks. Now as we look towards the years final quarter, the pad team of Rodrigo Lapena, Rodrigo Ramirez and Gonzalo Sacc have readied Volume Three of ‘Exoplanet’, featuring in order of appearance Alejo Fochi & ZAHNA, Barklas & Mariano Castro, Tory Lacroze & Facundo Sval, Franco Dalmati, Leo Perez & Dhany G, Lucas Ordoñez and TEIAO.

Label debutants Alejo Fochi and ZAHNA get the release underway with ‘Lost in the Light’. Presenting their first ever collaboration, the Argentinean duo impresses with a smooth progressive cut which relies on warm, well contoured grooves, wonky arp sequences and a gorgeous, trance-inducing break; a powerful amalgamation of sound which is nicely suited for mid-set action. Next up Barklas returns to the label alongside newcomer Mariano Castro for a sensational collaboration entitled ‘Dopamina’. Deep, spacious grooves set the pace here, while shapeshifting harmonics and ghostly effects perfectly foreshadow a fuzzed out, character-rich break which ultimately spearheads a groovy finale. Continuing with joint productions it is Argentinean talents Facundo Sval & Tory Lacroze who give us selection three, the deep and trippy journey that is ‘Back in California’. Selection four finds Franco Dalmati making his label debut with the deep and emotive sounds of ‘Source’. A captivating seven minute journey with thick, thunderous basslines setting the foundation for a trippy range of effects and cosmic creativities.

Passing the collection’s halfway point it is Leo Perez & Dhany G who make their label debut with ‘Horizontes’. As one of the more well known duo’s in the progressive and organic scene Leo and Dhany always seem to deliver magic when they work together. On ‘Horizontes’ they go deep and groovy with house-inspired basslines and nicely manicured percussion. It’s an evolving melodic narrative which proves most captivating though, flowing through bubbly arp sequences and soulful synth phrasing for what would have to be considered a stand out on the collection. Newcomer Lucas Ordonez is up next with his first ever released track entitled ‘Hygge’. The San Martin resident gets his discography off to a great start with a nostalgic progressive track, complete with pixie-like melodies, smooth hypnotic structures and a lovely array of arps which makes for an amazing breakdown. The release concludes with TEIAO making his label debut following a string of impressive releases for Droid9 South America. As the collection’s closer an appropriate vibe is necessary and ‘Shadows Groove’ more than fits the bill. Smooth, deep and contemplative sounding, it’s a production that makes you think but also feel, ultimately emanating a reflective vibe to round out the release in style. Highly recommended.

An artist with a rich electronic music history, Chris Zippel has been immersed in the world of house since the age of 15. Splitting his time between Berlin and Ibiza, the German artist has taken centre stage with work alongside the Pet Shop Boys, Robbie Williams and Paul Van Dyk. With music signed to Ubersee Music, Allisum Records and GMJ & Matter's Meanwhile Horizons, Zippel continues to grow in stature. A rising star, renowned for her status as a leading Qanun player, Ghenwa Nemnom has combined her love of the traditional Middle Eastern instrument with an ability to use its unique sound in the world of dance music and the organic house sound found on such leading imprints as Café De Anatolia, Alt Orient and Melody of the Soul. Now joining forces for the first time, "To Follow" is an extraordinary track that drifts enticingly with gently rolling beat and deep 16th note sub bassline. In tandem, the beautifully plucked sound of Nemnom's Quanun reveals itself in a virtuoso performance. A whispering vocal phrase emerges at the mid-point before ambient effects and subtly placed arpeggio combine in the second half to spine-tingling and immaculately crafted effect.

Gavin Griffin needs no introduction to those familiar with the progressive house sound of the past 5 years. A leading light in the underground fraternity with his performance behind the decks and near 500 production credits for the like of Anjunadeep, Balance Music and Proton Music, the Australian artist continues to push boundaries, defining the modern progressive sound. Reworking "To Follow", the GMJ remix is dripping in trademark silky smooth melodies and rolling rhythmic underpinning. Building imperceptibly, a vocal sample from Zippel and Nemnom's original creates a melodic peg from which to hang a glorious analogue synth motif. The cadenced phrase shimmers across the stereo spectrum as layer of pads and counterpoint motifs create an uplifting sonic experience. Using the fundamental harmonic themes from "To Follow", the track builds post-breakdown into a glorious sonic collage that showcases GMJ's technique and talent to the full.
