Have you heard the story of the magistrate that tried to outwit the Old Man of the Moon?” Minli nodded, “He tried to kill his son’s destined wife, but they ended up together anyway.” “Ah, you know the story.” The king smiled. “That magistrate was my greatgreat-grandfather’s father. And this city is the city that his son became king of through the marriage. “So the story is real!” Minli said. “Well, it is a story that has been passed through my family for generations,” the king said. “But there’s more to it than what most have heard.”. Schörmann’s showing us the road to the City of bright Moonlight. This is his first offering for Shango Records. These two tracks can wake up your senses and heal your body. As we move into spring season, we're super excited to welcome based Three Records head honcho Gareth Schörmann to NYLO LAB with a brand new 3 track EP titled 'A&D' to warm the hearts. 

We kick things off with 'Machina' which features an amalgamation of smooth bass tones, subtle drum programming, a cleverly chopped samples and intricately weaved chord progressions, building to a beautiful breakdown before gradually transforming the elements to an unrelenting crescendo of breathy synth licks, chord stabs and an ever-warped bassline.

Next up is the title track 'A&D' which is a stripped back affair utilizing a hypnotizing chord as the basis of the track underpinned by a staccato rhythm that gradually eases its way to the breakdown of breaks percussive elements before unleashing into a rising melodic hook intertwined with the infectious groove that fades in and out for maximum effect. 80's sound design redone for 2023. Fantastic stuff!

Last but not least Gareth drops 'Code' to close out his fine debut on NYLO LAB in style, showcasing beautiful melodies and luscious drum programming to create a lovely grove, which really augments the flow of the track. Gareth shows his love for melodic and deep FX, which are oozing of coolness and are accentuated by warm pads that feel like a silky blanket of sonic spheres, which wrap you into an alluring soundscape. 

Gareth Schörmann's 'A&D EP' is a lovely mind-bending collection of tracks that are wrapped in a smooth blanket of warming sounds for the melodic house loving sound aficionado. Tina Von Kugler is joining us from Berlin for our 152nd podcast.

Tina von Kugler, originally from Italy and now based in Berlin, has been immersed in the techno scene since her move to the German capital in 2016. Co-founding Klub Ostkreuz (KOX) in 2017, Tina has been instrumental in shaping Berlin's underground culture by organizing parties, raves, and art events, and curating a community radio show. Despite her deep involvement in the music scene, her personal journey as a DJ began just two years ago, thanks to the unwavering support of collectives like V.A. Femme. Since then, she has already made waves across Europe, blending groovy, funky, and Berlin-inspired techno in venues around Berlin, Italy, and Belgium.

In November 2023, Tina embarked on a solo adventure to Colombia and Peru, where her infectious energy and magnetic presence found a warm reception. From Bogotá to Lima, Medellín to Arequipa, Tina's performances electrified audiences in clubs and festivals alike. Notably, she performed at renowned festivals such as Free Connection and Locombia on the Colombian Caribbean coast, solidifying her growing reputation in the international techno scene.

As Tina von Kugler's journey continues to unfold and she´s now starting to produce her first beats, one thing is clear: her passion for music knows no bounds.

The second installment of RNDM CLUB raises the high bar set by the first outing, providing a masterful exercise in trance-inflected techno and sci-fi acid from the community mainstay Rayme. Drawing inspiration from Gibson's ‘Sprawl’ trilogy, ‘Simulation Stimulation’ is stepped to dystopian cyberpunk with direct references to ‘Neuromancer’ mythology in the track titles and sonic aesthetic of release. Opening with ‘Dex’, Rayme generates an uneasy sense of hyperkinetic rush through the crystalline melodic lines and relentless hard beats to evoke vivid images of the notorious psychostimulant from Gibson’s fiction world. All five cuts are primed to produce a spiritual space between the ungraspable abstractions of ‘Neuromancer’ and peak-time underground dancefloors at this decadent stage of late capitalism. 

Having been a major player on the Moscow techno circuit for the last few years, Rayme knows how to make excellent off-world electronica at its most futuristic, uncompromising, and primal. ‘Simulation Stimulation’ offers a unique psychonaut sonic world and shows Rayme's commitment to pushing boundaries and exploring the outer limits of hard dance music.

The prolific and eclectic Montevideo-based label U’re Guay Records has been helping shape the landscape of the South American underground electronic music scene by wide-opening its doors to not only established artists but also talented newcomers. “Voodooridoo” is the debut EP of the collab between Radial Gaze and Pyrame. The result of what had to happen when the two friends finally met in person earlier this year. Indeed, over a 2 months period, the two electronic musicians quickly hit the ground and regularly caught up at Thisbe Recordings´ HQ in Berlin-Mitte where ideas kept flowing and got recorded. They blent each other´s recipes to produce unpreceded music for both of them. Pyrame´s brain-sticking melodies and basslines as well as odd organic instrumentation found in his studio meet Radial Gaze´s punchy riffs on acid, signature tribal percussions, and brain-washing arpeggiated patterns.
