Demi kicks things o ff with his archetypal soul-soothing disco-tinged house. Live percussion grooves interlock punchy kicks and mesmerising arpeggios sprawl out across the top. Vitess joins the Shall Not Fade family with a vibrant contribution to our Season Series. Retroactive City sees the Parisian talent helm the uplifting house sound for which his prolific live sets have become known.

Easing us in is the down-tempo slow burner ‘Cockpit’ with synth arpeggios that bubble playfully on the surface of layered ambience and a modest two-step rhythm. The next two tracks take things up a notch with funk-infused melodies (​​'Fantasia’) and old school Robin S-esque organ samples which make for a fiercely modern take on a classic deep house sound (‘Popeye’). Flip to the B side and thumping floor-fillers ‘No Dancing’ and ‘Ratz’ maintain the pace before ‘Grand Turismo’ switches things up completely. Jungle drums rattle under luscious pads before mutating into 4X4 to make the perfect closer - both to the EP and to any DJ set.

Hailing from Utrecht, DJ and producer Locklead is known for his stand out house material via Slapfunk, Dungeon Meat and Pleasure Zone with support from Raresh, Enzo Siragusa, Djebali, Varhat, Janeret and more. Following his debut album ‘Square One’ on Chris Stussy’s Up The Stuss, the Dutchman now joins the Dark Side Of The Sun family with his latest EP ‘Era’ with French maestro Sweely and label-founder Van Dijk on remix duties. House masterclass ‘Era’ kicks off the EP as eerie sonics ride a groove-laden beat guided by anthemic keys and subtle bleeps, while the aptly-titled, bass-heavy ‘Friki’ gets down with driving low-ends and tripped-out vocals. ‘Initiate Robot’ is a peak-time affair boasting heavy synth work and enchanting harmonies over deep tones. Next up, Sweely serves up a pacy, cosmic rework of title track ‘Era’, peppered with galactic samples and spiralling electronics, before Luuk Van Dijk’s stripped-back reshape of ‘Friki’ fuses snappy percussion and sweeping chords.

'With its focus on the deeper side of house music Archie Hamilton’s Moss Co. imprint drops the new ‘Solutions EP’ from Berlin based and EWax founder, SY.
 
SY Hails from Manchester in the UK however relocated to Berlin back in 2016 where he currently runs his label EWax and tours around Europe and the globe. He’s played in world renowned clubs such as Fabric, D-EDGE, Sankeys, Space Ibiza, Hoppetosse, Parker Lewis, Tresor, Badaboum, Golzheim and many more, and all the while keeping his production output to the max with heavyweight productions & remixes on prestigious labels such as Rawax, META, Moan, Politics Of Dancing, Avotre and his own very own EWax imprint. For his first release on Hamilton’s Moss Co imprint he delivers a sublime two tracker titles ‘Solutions EP’. 

Track one and the title track is ‘Solutions’ an upbeat yet deep driving hypnotic journey, with tripped out atmospherics giving depth to the track. He adds a sweet melodic lead organ and delicate chord placements as the track progresses to convey a fresh yet cutting edge track for the more discerning floor. 

On the flip side we have ‘Take You There (I Want To)’ is slightly deeper than the A-side, and it takes its power and energy from the bass line groove and tight metronomic beat pattern. With an elegant flow the “I Want To Take You There” vocal cuts effortlessly through drifting through the track to give this its uplifting finishing touch. Together this is an extremely tight EP of effortlessly elegant deep house at its finest.'

Metafloor Records brings in Amsterdam based newcomer Drillisch to deliver the latest instalment on the imprint with the ‘Late Night Step EP’. With only a few releases under his belt to date, the young artist demonstrates that he is one to watch for the future, showing off his meticulous production style with a fresh batch of original tracks. 

‘When You’re Around’ is a certified club-ready track, perfect for the approaching summer seasons. It’s layers of epic, ethereal pads, coupled with a euphoric vocal, combine to create a track that is bound to set dancefloors alight in the coming months. 

‘Get You Back’ is another dance-ready banger with an evolving, blissful melodic hook. It’s pulsating bass and intense builds throughout ensure that this one will do the damage in the clubs for sure. 

The young artists treats us to two mixes of the lead track ‘Late Night Step,’ with an array of crisp percussion, rich melodic phrases, interspersed with an iconic vocal sample in the original itself. Remixes from Kreature and Kenny Oliver round off the package with Drillisch’s own ‘Afterhour Heads Down Mix’ slotting in perfectly for those darker sets.
