After indulging in the slower territories for their last EP, So.undso return on their imprint Dance Petrol Records with four up-tempo cuts wrapped up under their EP „Imponiergehabe“.

The EP kicks off with the title giving track „Imponiergehabe", a homage to the golden days of new beat and Italo disco. So.undso masterfully weaves nostalgic elements into a contemporary soundscape, inviting listeners to revel in the magic of these iconic genres.

Next up is "Euro Training", a housy interpretation of Europes 80s take on electronic music spiked with trance, taking you on a rhythmic journey, blending infectious beats and euphoric melodies, creating a sonic experience that transcends time.

"Elektrik im Zaum" follows suit, introducing a touch of progressive house into the mix. Closing the EP is "Morso Di Serpente“, heavily influenced by new beat and early house, the result is a track that pays homage to the past while firmly rooted in the present, closing of the EP as an absolute late night weapon.

As with every Dance Petrol Records release, this EP is not just a collection of tracks, it's a curated experience that invites you to immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of electronic music.

PREMIERE: So.undso - Elektrik Im Zaum [Dance Petrol Records]

“Imponiergehabe” (the German equivalent to “exhibitionism, imposing behavior”) is the name of the brand-new EP of the Munich + Passau-based duo So.undso coming soon on their very own Dance Petrol Records. Consisting of four tracks heavily influenced by Italo Disco and Trance, Chris & Markus set their foot on different soundscapes away from their customary House Music territory. Well, they warned about this change of behaviour in their previous appearance on DPR with “Just Like Before”, their contribution for the volume 003 of the compilation series “Selected Fuels”, and its naughty Italo-infused bearing. 

With solid appearances on Lisztomania, Mango Sounds, and DPR itself, the lads spare no efforts to keep evolving as artists and surprising their audiences with multi-genre-embedded cuts brought to life with high expertise and sharp creativity. 

Premiered here, “Morso Di Serpente” (Italian for “snake bite” – yeah, Chris & Markus might have embarked on a language spree this time) may start with a House Music vibe, but it does not take long for the “folgado” (Portuguese for “sassy” – sorry, we could not resist joining the party) style of our beloved Italo Disco shows its face – and once it takes over the stage, it’s game on! A peak-time singularity is born!

Ransom Note Records sub label Insult To Injury are delighted to welcome back analogue techno pioneers Buran with their second full length excursion for the label, in the form of The Hunter EP. Born of the mechanical machinations of Joe Wretham and Ian Scott, their latest instalment of furious face melters is aimed squarely at the post midnight dancefloor, bubbling away with squelchy 303 potions and black magic beats.

First single, Alnitak, opens the EP and immediately we’re confronted with Buran’s inimitable modus operandi; slash and burn Acid Techno with a scorched earth ethos. A full frontal assault of acidic sorcery, lobbing techno bangers over the ramparts as the castle walls are pummelled. Hold onto your hats, it’s not for the faint of heart!

Alnilam is next out the gate, ricocheting off the armour plating of its enemies, bouncing along and razing everything in its path to the ground. We’re delivered brief respite from the brutality with the addition of some celestial vocal edits, whose angelic timbres provide juxtaposition to the synthetic onslaught. As the smoke clears, the penultimate Mintaka glides into view. Wonderfully barbed, but gloriously lush chords propel the track forward, over a bed over automaton drum machines and staccato blips, bleeps and swirling noise.

Rounding off, ITI are hyped to have the mighty Void Complet on remix duties. Fresh off the back of his breakthrough release on CHOBU Records, London based super producer Chog Burley takes Alnitak and reimagines it in his own image. Launching with a rich, metallic arpeggio, we’re drawn into an analogue dream, before realising that’s all a ruse. We have been lulled into a false sense of security, because we’re about to be clattered around the head by that savage 303 riff from the original. We’re caught in the crossfire as glitched vocals and bit crushed acid lines vie for dominance. This correspondent knows not how to fully encapsulate the terror of this remix… watch out dance floors around the world!

It’s undeniable that after the COVID crisis many dance floors all over the world heated things up a “little bit” when it comes to the preferable stride for their (more than ever) eager audiences. Now, 140+BPM seems to be the new black, and more and more producers have been following such a “trend” and at least flirting with faster ventures – Jonas Gottlieb being one of them. The Munich-based House-Music couldn’t resist donning his latest productions in peak-time-only attire. 

Once again coming out on the cool German label Dance Petrol Records, Jonas brought to the catwalk a collection of four fast-paced dressed-to-kill beasts, craving to become summer sensations with their fancy and dashing garments. Do not let the title of the EP, “Sorry For The Looks”, mislead you: They are impeccably clad! 

Premiered here, the charming and melodic “Broken Tide” presents itself showing off UK Bass references that paired perfectly with the mesmerising mellow vocals. The combination delivers an interesting theme with both frenzied and soothing traits. The OMG piano layer cannot go unmentioned – what a beauty!
