DT is proud to present DJ MIX #582 with the French/ Canadian DJ and Producer Fred Everything - a key player in the world of House Music with two and a half decades in the music business and a discography of more than 250 releases to his credit.  This mix was recorded live at the Monkey Loft in Seattle just before the start of the pandemic in February 2020. Enjoy!

Born in Hull and raised in Quebec City, Fred caught the bug early for electronic music in high school, working summer jobs wash-ing dishes to buy his first synths. He then formed a few bands while spending his weekends as the youngest kid in local nightclubs. In the early 90s, he started playing live in raves and clubs across Canada. His first releases came out on labels such as DIY (UK), Vinyl Peace and ultimately 20:20 Vision, which launched Fred’s career in the UK and worldwide.

In the years that followed Fred Everything had an extremely fruitful time in the studio- both as a producer and remixer, releasing on countless respectable house music labels including launching his own Lazy Days imprint in 2005. The first release, Friday (Remixed by Trentemoller) became an instant classic and is still to this day the best seller on the label. Fast forward 10 years later, and Lazy Days has put out over 50 releases by esteemed artists such as : Shur-I-Kan, Ian Pooley, Kruse & Nuernberg, Atjazz, Tortured Soul, Crazy P, Greg Wilson as well as Fred’s own original projects, collaborations and remixes.

Successful in the licensing department, his productions have appeared on over 150 compilations worldwide by various artists such as Danny Tenaglia, Steve Lawler, Pete Tong, H-Foundation and Miguel Migs on labels like Fabric, Defected, Ministry of Sound, NRK, Universal and countless Ibiza compilations. His music was also used heavily for shows on MTV and was licensed to Virgin Airlines for their onboard entertainment system.

As a DJ, Fred has been a fixture in clubs worldwide, with his unique energetic style of mixing and ability to play with styles. He’s held residencies at SONA, Stereo and Salon Daome in Montreal as well as Next Door (Honolulu), Footwork (Toronto) and regular spots in places like Fabric (London), Smart Bar (Chicago) and Mighty(San Francisco). With over a million miles flown throughout the years, he’s played just about everywhere in the world with regular tours in Europe, Asia, Australia, North America, playing in cities such as Tel Aviv, Moscow, Istanbul, Sao Paulo and Dubai. He has also performed a festivals such as Coachella, Outside Lands, Woogie Weekend, Pik Nic Electronik, Igloofest, Coincidance, Francofolies de Larochelle and many more.

In "Wildfire," Galestian and Sarah Bird craft a track that is an exploration of connection and the human spirit.

Sarah's vocals carry a vulnerable tenderness, while Galestian's production creates a world with ethereal textures and earthy percussion. Together, they blend the primal with the celestial.

Galestian, an LA-born and Berlin-based artist, has carved his place in electronic music with support from icons like Tiësto and Nora En Pure, and collaborations with GRAMMY-nominated acts like Paul Oakenfold.

Sarah Bird (Ultra Publishing) is an award-winning, London-based Australian singer-songwriter, known for the depth of her sultry and alluring voice, with releases on major dance labels such as Ultra, Armada, and Sony.

Mass Digital is a Serbian DJ/producer known for his melodic and organic house sound, with releases on esteemed labels like Lee Burridge's All Day I Dream. His remix of "Wildfire" takes the original and turns it into a deep, groovy, dancefloor-driven journey.

At its heart, Wildfire is about surrendering to the dualistic dance between intensity and tranquility, a perfect fit for the ninth release on Global Entry Recordings.

Every tune I put in my sets & mixes, I take a lil extra time & save the tracklist to post. I usually send a little message to the artist and/or labels to show my support & thank them as well for providing me with such amazing music to spin.

About Large Music:
Large Music was the brainchild of Windy City resident Jeff Craven, who was worried that house music was in danger of being sidelined in its own birthplace, the international spotlight that had once shone on the pioneering Trax and DJ International imprints having moved on to New York labels such as Strictly Rhythm, Nervous and 8-Ball. “I thought a label with that kind of energy and underground profile could work in Chicago,” says Jeff. So, pooling funds with a friend, he began finding talent and pressing records. Kerri Chandler’s ‘Raw Grooves EP’ became the label’s breakout release, and Large Music hasn’t looked back since. In fact, far from looking back, Large is a record label that’s always been about looking forward. In the 90s, their catalog featured the likes of DJ Sneak, Mateo & Matos and Dennis Ferrer when they were right at the start of their careers, not to mention providing a then-nascent UK garage scene with one of its most enduring anthems in the form of Roy Davis Jr’s ‘Gabriel’.

In the 2000’s, the Chicago-based label was quick to pick up on the deep and soulful house coming from the West Coast, releasing material from the likes of Halo, Jay-J, Rasoul, Miguel Migs and Julius Papp. During the Deep House revival of 2013 Jeff embraced a flurry of young producers who emerged out of Europe, with releases from the likes of Roland Nights, Evan Iff, James Dexter and Matthias Vogt. Yet while fashions fluctuate and music mutates, one thing that hasn’t changed is the Large A&R policy. It’s simple: “My formula has always been to release music that I was really into and what I would play as a DJ,” says Jeff. “I’m still just as excited about house music as I was in 1992.” Which probably explains how Large has been able to stay relevant all these years, this is one veteran label that isn’t content to endlessly rehash former glories, but who instead keeps searching out new underground talent.

They set out to ensure that house music didn’t get sidelined in Chicago in the 90’s. What they’ve actually achieved is to push house forward all over the world for 26 years and counting.
