Hailing from the overachieving town of Cowra in Country NSW, the now Melbourne-based artist combines a wicked bravado with effortless vulnerability through intricate lyricism. Producing his own tracks under the pseudonym Responsible K, he creates a cinematic landscape to deliver thought-provoking bars on tracks like ‘Resurgence’ and ‘Steve Moneghetti’.

His most recent single ‘It Feels Right’ features production from relative newcomer Harp Miles and vocals from Melbourne vocalist Ragged Blossom. This track is an arrival of sorts for KP, who sounds stronger and more confident in his voice than he ever has. The Sonny Grin produced ‘On Demand’ drives this home both sonically and lyrically, with Hydes telling us exactly who he thinks he is, while not getting carried away with himself.

KP’s upcoming album Wondership is an extension of that. Telling a story of self-discovery through the end of one relationship and the blossoming of a new one, Hydes reminds us there is wonder in the good and the bad as he crafts a work that reflects his universe to the listener. In a landscape where the single rules, Wondership is a reminder that beauty takes time. It is an exceptionally real 33 minutes that leaves you with a lasting sense of peace, that in spite of everything that has happened, just maybe, everything will be okay.

Performing at stages all over Melbourne, including Brown Alley, Noise Bar, Club 161, the Brunswick Hotel and Cherry bar, this 3 piece plays with a melodic, grunge infused sound that is something to behold and a unique sound to listen to.
