Toolroom Records is proud to present the first in a series of EPs entitled 'Weiss City Vol 1' by one of our hot tips for 2013, Weiss.

'Weiss City Vol 1' showcases this producers vast talent by embracing house music's rich heritage with deep jacking grooves, warm rumbling subs, sweet sharp percussion and delicate vocal treatment. Leading the EP. 'You Treat Me Right' sets the tone with an infectious guitar lick and impassioned vocals on top of a driving but deep bass line. 'Do The Do' is straight up organ house, with an unforgettable melody, vocal cut and sharp percussion. Next up, Weiss delivers the funk with 'My Sister'; one of those tracks you'll have on repeat for weeks on end, the groove is unrivalled on this one! Finally, 'Silk Slut' concludes the EP on a slightly darker note with heavy drums, pitched down vocals and a rumbling bass; perfect for after parties.

The first in what is sure to be an accomplished set of EPs, transport yourself to 'Weiss City' for an exploration of the deeper side of house music.

Few DJs and producers in the contemporary domain are as celebrated as New York native, Roger Sanchez. A true proponent of what made deep house so special in the 90s thanks to his work at Strictly Rhythm, Sanchez then achieved considerable chart success in 2001 with his house classic, ‘’Another Chance’’. Since then he’s held massive residencies in the likes of Ibiza, while his latest work sees him return to his S-Man guise for the Hard Times label; an imprint that was among those who championed Sanchez from the get-go.

He now appears on a brand new Remix of Federico Scavo & Barbara Tucker’s essential ‘Live Your Life’, which we have on our Debut Transmission Today. Dropping on D:VISION January 25, his remix is pure class, incorporating the soulful vocals of the queen of house typically stripped back from a producer who has rediscovered his passion for underground dance music. A slightly darker and hypnotic Dub Mix primed for late night affairs is enclosed also.

Marquis Hawkes continues to supply quality, disco-infused house with ‘The Basement is Burning’ EP on AUS Music, featuring the euphoric and energetic title track.

It’s no surprise Marquis Hawkes is right at home on AUS Music, having released a collection of the label’s top EPs in the past two years, including ‘Chances’, ‘Doornroosje’ and ‘Love Precipitation’. Now he’s set to drop his second release on the imprint in 2017, showcasing more of his soulful and emotive material. 

‘The Basement is Burning’ leads off with a warm piano melody paired with a steady house beat which leads into a crescendo of blissful strings and synth. It’s interesting to note that the track was inspired by a distressing event in which his home caught fire and his family had to be rescued from a fifth floor balcony. Once he and his family were safe, Hawkes had to dash across Berlin to make it to a live show at 10am. A few days later, ‘The Basement is Burning’ was born.

‘The Basement is Burning’ EP is set for release May 26.
