Machine Cult — the Amsterdam-based electronic platform run by Déandrah and Garçon Taupe — returns with the Edition Four release party at OT301 on 7 November.

The new V.A. compilation features tracks from Garçon Taupe, Bertram, 2:29, Beau Wanzer, Déandrah, and Masha Wordpress. At the launch, all contributing artists will play DJ sets, with Déandrah providing live visuals throughout the night.

Expect an evening of potent electronics and immersive visuals, celebrating the forefront of the underground.

Every motion leaves an echo.
A delay so small it feels like memory,
folding back into what made it.

Some parts of us cancel out — out of phase, out of step —
while others ring louder,
resonant at their point of friction.

The closer we listen,
the more we hear the shape of time itself:
not in repetition, but in resistance.

Turn the gain high enough,
and every system sings its own name.

What we call resonance
is simply agreement through distortion —
a frequency where return and loss sound the same.

Civilization, too, is a filter:

a boost where the noise gathers.

and even silence begins to oscillate —
slightly altered, slightly late.

The self is a comb filter —
a body made of delays and reflections.

What we say
returns a few milliseconds later.
At low frequencies, we disappear;
near our cut-offs, we bloom.

Maybe living
is just tuning the loop
until it almost sings itself apart,
but not quite — building toward a new start.

C.L.A.W.S. comes to Dark Entries with a new ripping LP, Splat City II. C.L.A.W.S. is the solo project of musical luminary Brian Hock, who has been a key figure in the Bay Area underground for over two decades via his involvement in projects like Bronze and The Vanishing, as well as helming the record labels Squirrels on Film and Immortal Sin. With C.L.A.W.S., Hock takes on the dancefloor, picking up cues from the Hague’s Giallo-dipped electro, the skewed minimalism of Chicago acid, and the mind-rending forays of San Francisco post-punk icons like Chrome and Tuxedomoon. Following 2019’s inaugural Splat City EP, Splat City II continues to map the psychogeography of a metropolis both alien and immediately recognizable, one where life is cheap, but so are the thrills. Previously released on Squirrels on Film in digital-only format, this expanded vinyl edition of Splat City II features two new cuts. Things kick off with “Route 505” and “One Tear,” a duo of rompers that vibe like Tom Ellard and Chip E locked in a room with a vial of liquid. Next up, Bay Area deckmaster Tyrel lends his editing chops to “Vigilant Slimy Monsters,” sculpting a moody space disco beast. Squirrels on Film co-founder Solar teams up with Hock for “Black Magic Carpet Ride III,” a cavernous downtempo banger. The slow-mo pace continues with “Wild Slugs United,” which features the no wave-esque clarinet work of Paul Costuros. Closer “Don’t Flip the Crystal Ship” pays homage to Bayview venue Bay Area 51 with melancholic strings and a quartz-solid electrofunk bassline. Splat City II comes in a sleeve with artwork by Bert Bergen, which features a vampiric cat and sci-fi cityscapes.

Music travels faster than ever, yet the connections that shape it still depend on patience. Sense of the Substrate, the new release from our own Griff Fulton under his Aspetuck alias, feels like the result of that slow exchange. Out on Konstrukt, the Nijmegen label that has built its identity around subtle consistency, the kind of releases where artwork, sound, and intention all seem to breathe the same air. Aspetuck’s latest record fits naturally into that lineage. Following his standout LP on Oslated earlier this year, Griff returns with a five-track EP that combines warmth, precision, and patience into a sound that feels unmistakably his own.

The record moves through slower tempos and unforced grooves, where rhythm has room to stretch and melody can take its time to unfold. Our premiere, “Subterranean Rhizome,” sits right in that zone, a track that glows rather than burns. It opens with interlaced percussion and a gentle breakbeat that sets a calm propulsion, gradually joined by flickering chords that rise like light through shallow water. Every element feels hand-shaped, balanced between the tangible and the ethereal. By the time the main riff arrives, you’re already somewhere else entirely, in that rare headspace where the body listens and the mind moves.

Sense of the Substrate arrives November 21 on Konstrukt, available digitally and on vinyl. It’s another chapter in a story that values connection over noise and craft over speed, the kind of record that reminds you why physical formats, and the people behind them, still matter.

PREMIERE: Aspetuck - Subterranean Rhizome [Konstrukt]

Who are these people

With a full year behind us since our last release on Delayed’s own Never Late, we’re proud to welcome French artist Gëinst to the platform with his ‘Hiber Trace’ EP. We first discovered the music of Gëinst through mutual friends & upon that initial discovery, were immediately intrigued by his musical ecosystem. A prolific yet incredibly humble artist, he has had releases on labels such as Lowless with a superb split EP earlier this year with Simone Bauer, his Into The Valley EP on Souleiman & Foreign Material’s label Norite, a string of releases with Sub Accent’s label Accents, appearances on Emmanuel’s ARTS & a few recent compilation inclusions on Lithuanian platform Area 127 & Ina Kacz’s Aneelhi Rec. His sound has grown & evolved significantly over the years, as he remains in constant motion, continuously refining his process in the studio. 

We were lucky enough to meet Gëinst in person for the first time earlier this year, at our favorite Mostra Festival back in April. We shared some special times together in the cavernous Vall d’Hebron Olympic Pavilion, a place we’re so eager to return to again next year, in only a few months. It’s a pleasure to welcome Gëinst into our growing family, a fairly new but already dear friend of ours because of those powerful dancefloor experiences. It brings my mind back to that spark that led to the creation of Never Late, an inspired moment on a Brooklyn dancefloor a few years back. 

The ‘Hiber Trace’ EP, for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, feels perfectly paired with the crisp winter mornings we have ahead of us - cold & sharp, beautiful & pristine, fierce & unforgiving, like shards of ice moving through a body of water. The title track grabs your attention right away, every sound thoughtfully distorted & processed subtly with effects, a steady rhythm you find your head moving back & forth to no matter how many times you listen to it. The tension builds ever so slowly & then that beautiful, enticing snare appears & stays with you for the entire journey. As soon as those melodic sequences come in, you’re hooked & the track cruises at altitude for just over 9 minutes. 

For our 4th release on Never Late, Gëinst presents his 6-track ‘Hiber Trace’ EP, released digitally on December 5th.
