Ballade in G minor, first draft.
Harmonically and melodically mostly written in the last couple of months, although some themes were drafted almost a decade ago which in itself has a special meaning for me since it always lingered in my mind until I decided to finish it.
Will possibly expand upon the composition in the near future.

"Downhill" is a rock/pop anthem rooted in the frustration and heartbreak of watching a once-stable connection unravel. Inspired (surprisingly) by a fallout with my ex-landlord, the song explores shifting dynamics, emotional confusion, and the sting of unmet expectations. While it sounds like a breakup song—and is framed like one—it was actually born from a non-romantic fallout, which is part of my songwriting signature: turning everyday conflicts into grand anthems.

Produced by Jay Ives, Downhill blends gritty rock instrumentation with a polished pop structure and a soaring, catchy hook. Its dynamic build mirrors the inner turmoil of navigating miscommunication and power shifts in any kind of relationship—romantic, professional, or otherwise. It’s for anyone who’s ever felt blindsided by someone they once trusted.

Never give up on your dreams, just be patient, eventually there will be light at the end of the tunnel. there are days when you want to give up, but there will be a glimmer of hope waiting at your door. through patience, inspirational moments and perseverance we overcome and triumph over these obstacles. Its the ability to let go if things are not working as planned and not taking things too seriously. There will be another time and place. By gaining strength through courage, wisdom and persistence we eventually find peace in our hearts. Staying humble, acknowledging and reflecting on our successes no matter how big or small is paramount to our well being.

Resiliance In The Face Of Adversity

Some of you may recognise the good ladies from Daybreak singing Salutations to the Sun, and the chorus "I am part of the Sun" is a poem by D.H. Lawrence.

"A little bit of alright" was a phrase that I wrote in my notebook a long time ago. I had no idea what to do with it but I kinda liked the phrase and thought there might be a song in there somewhere.  That was a few years back.  More recently the phrase "nothing's truly black, nothing's black as all that" occurred to me in an unrelated context.  Once they two phrases found their way to the same piece of paper this song popped out.   No deep meaning, just a, hopefully, catchy tune.

Lyrics:
Nothing’s truly black, nothing black as all that.  You can aways find a touch of gray.  
It’s really not so much, just he tiniest touch. Hard to see but it’s always that way,
No matter how dark, and it can get very dark, the stars still find their way through
No matter how old and dreary the story, if you listen you might find something new

This instrumental track is an adaptation of an earlier song I wrote and recorded called “Age of Humans”. Unfortunately for that song, the arrangement was too uplifting and did not suit the content, which was a warning about global warming and its consequences.

So “Hope for Humanity” tries to convey a more pleasant listening experience!

I write songs.  I'm not a performer any more than I need to be to have my songs heard once in a while. I hope that better musicians than I encounter my songs and decide to play them.  I just write songs to have them exist in the world. If the world likes them then the world can do with them what it will.  All these recordings are demos.  I've tried to make them as musically interesting as I can but they are all awaiting the skilled hand of someone who knows how to make songs shine.
