Disposable Music and Collectible Razors is the second album by Labobros, realeased on the 20th December 2021. This is an experimental album in terms of sounds, music styles and languages.

MAKE FRIENDS WITH GORILLA

The song Make Friends With Gorilla is the result of a team effort and was composed in collaboration with the amazing band Stargoon. 

The initial idea was to produce the electro background for one of Stargoon's songs. It was then that the composer Shayne O'Neill introduced me to the demo of "Make Friends With Gorilla". The song was great and I spent a lot of time creating different electro versions, experimenting with beats and bass lines, but none of them sounded really interesting. I came to the inevitable conclusion that any change too abruptly would take away from the beauty of the original track, and perhaps the best solution was a remix. This way the original track could be released intact and still get a remix.

"Just do whatever you think works best," was Shayne's response. Man, you don't say that to someone who is desperate (lol). After that I completely abandoned the electronic versions and went for a mix of punk rock (!), anime music (!!) and orchestra (!!!)

This remix was by far one of the biggest challenges I've had to date, because it forced me to experiment with a crossover of styles outside the electro bubble.

Stargoon is the fantastic musical project created by the duo Shayne O'Neill and Ceridwyn "Sunny" Roberts-Floyd. The band has post-prog pop influences and was once defined as Hawkwind meets Devo. In my opinion, Stargoon's sound is completely original, a rare gem. I am an outspoken fan of the duo's work.

A friend from university remembers me leaning out of a car window singing "I wanta get me some hongos". I remember no such thing.  In honour of his recollection I created that song, but from the perspective of a 75 year old. I still wanta get me some hongos, but ...

Suddenly Clear

Started the year off right in the virtual studio with my bandmates and #blabbuds from @bandlab.  Had a blast as per usual.  The idea, guitars and poetry come from @soundmindproject, the bass added by @dr_snave and our 2nd track with new drummer Dave @drummer1979. I added the melody and lead guitars. I write songs.  I'm not a performer any more than I need to be to have my songs heard once in a while. I hope that better musicians than I encounter my songs and decide to play them.  I just write songs to have them exist in the world. If the world likes them then the world can do with them what it will.  All these recordings are demos.  I've tried to make them as musically interesting as I can but they are all awaiting the skilled hand of someone who knows how to make songs shine.
