This track was recorded during a rehearsal for a eurorack improvisation concert. The improvisation is based on from zero patching, meaning there are no patch cables connected and all sequencer and sample memory buffers are cleared.

Disquiet Junto 0727 asked us to pull two cards from the Oblique Strategies deck, and record the piece that they inspire. 

I interpreted my first card, “You don’t have to be ashamed of using your own ideas”, as encouragement to go with my instincts and not second-guess myself. So I kept the first improvisation I conceived for each instrument, without self-censoring or editing. I had to retake the lead guitar to fix a technical issue but I did not stray from my original inspiration for any of the tracks.

The second card I drew was “Twist the spine”, which I took as an invitation to “twist” the pitches of the guitars (courtesy of the Walrus Audio Slo reverb pedal on the repeating figure, and a nice tremelo from the Eventide Harmonizer for the higher guitar). They sound a little nervous and uncertain, and I like the atmosphere that resulted from that decision.

Features live electric guitar and bass, digital piano, synth, TR-08 drum machine, spoken word, and acousmatics.

Twisting the Spine (disquiet0727)

I realize that my contributions so far are note quite adequate; I’m not leaving any room for a 3rd party to get in. 

So, to build a track that leaves some room for a third part, I started on @disconcert_1 ‘s:

And added a rhodes piano improv and some back beat loops.
Nothing really happens besides the acid mantra like groove so there’s room for something else IMHO (I also added some drive-filter to disconcert’s original, hope he doesn’t mind)

In some words:
Composer, arranger, producer, multi-instrumentalist. Born in Argentina,
I studied music in Buenos Aires, New York, Boston, Los Angeles and Paris.

For 20 years, I developed an important career as a session and backing musician in Argentina and Europe, playing, among other instruments, the bass, touring and recording with many jazz, rock, fusion, world, Latin and tango bands.

At the same time, I worked as an arranger, producer and musical director with many projects and artists in the USA, Argentina and Europe.

From 1992 to 1997, I performed my compositions live with my own band in Buenos Aires and began a solo recording career with the worldwide release of my first album "The Years Alone" on the North American label Green Linnet/Xenophile. On this album I arranged and performed 11 of my songs written between 1986 and 1993. I played most of the instruments, but included guest appearances by some great South American players.

My recording career continued with "Segundo Ciclo" (1997), released worldwide by Timeless Records, and 12 more albums released between 2000 and 2016.

Currently, I work as an on-demand film/TV composer while continuing to play live and produce.
