Degrees of Separation’s fusion of alternative and Queen-influenced rock experimentation; a serving for the curious of the new outlook on modern rock.

Crafted by guitarist/singer Markus Saastamoinen who founded the band in 2007, along with drumming powerhouse Beau Karnaghan, in 2008 the band began playing shows supporting the likes of Noiseworks and Choirboys. By mid '08, world-renowned record producer Mark Opitz (AC/DC, INXS, The Angels, Rose Tattoo, John Paul Young amongst others) began monitoring and mentoring Degrees of Separation.  From this point, the band went on to play shows alongside Shihad and Shannon Noll.  Fast forward to 2015 and Degrees of Separation release their new album entitled 'Beautiful Agony'.  Completing the band’s line-up with his thunderous bass sounds is Simon Best.  The bands influences range from Queen, Muse, Van Halen, INXS, Dream Theater and U2.

Divergent worlds of music genres have collided to form a new, modern alternate take on rock - Degrees of Separation.


And so it began.....

Emerging from the depths, from the ashes of past occurrences and unsolvable circumstances... Entitiy's with a dream, an intense motivation of moving forward.... to rape and pillage the ideals of a forever dying species that have no right set rules. To transcend through dimensions, to molest the emotion...To kick some arse and take some fuckin names!!!...................

We are the Villain Epic.

We have absorbed many musical backgrounds...
acoustic, pop, soul, funk, metal, jazz and country as a collective... but...
As a unit, a cell... we play what feels right,.. what gels.. and let the energy of music select its own path. We respect all music, as it is an entity in itself....Music is life and gives life. It is an amazing thing. A big deal...  you, that experiences this on a daily basis.. "How amazing is it?".... The answer is "Beyond anything! Beyond it all." Sacred geometry proves this without a shadow of a doubt...
