Blanket of Statues is Matthew Heath, a singer/songwriter playing dark and melodious songs with intelligent and haunting lyrics. Born in inner-city Birmingham, he picked up a guitar at the tender age of five and would entertain guests with imitations of Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley. Since then, his passion for music and anything creative has only grown, culminating in the formation of his first band when he was sixteen.

 Having cut his teeth in the band Pure Land School, Matt began to write his own material and honed his style listening and learning from the greats, such as The Wailers, Dire Straits, The Jam and The Beatles, before exploring and taking in more diverse influences from the worlds of art, music, film and literature.

 He is currently working on recording his first album which will showcase his unique style of playful time signatures, distinctive vocals and philosophical lyrics. “It’s not important what a riff is, or which genre it’s perceived to belong to, what matters is that you can play it with integrity, be proud to play it and be passionate and far-reaching enough that somebody, somewhere might be listening to it of their own choice and really getting something out of it.” So says the man himself.
