An amazing rising star in the House scene, Jamie Fisher has earned his party stripes over the years to be published has one of the hardest working DJ/Producers on the UK circuit. As a 10-year old child listening to German and Dutch techno, the writing was pretty much on the wall for this massively successful DJ. On the decks since the age of 13 and resident at the Doncaster Warehouse club following the footsteps of DJ’s like Carl Cox aged just 17, Jamie’s talent and hard work was sailing him through the ranks. But he had bigger plans….


His own productions were signed to major and various independent labels at the mere age of 18, selling over 1,000,000 CD compilations spanning over the next few years. In 2006 after more musical experience and education working as a record buyer, Jamie set up his own record label “High Voltage Records’ and with his single ‘Just Be Good To Me’ entered the DMC World chart in first position, which then propelled the track to a top 10 hit on Beatport. Also selling a vast amount of 12” vinyl. Things were starting to go global…….


Club residencies followed at ‘Sankeys’ (Manchester), ‘Filth’ (Leeds) and the after party institution that is ‘Glasshouse’ also in Leeds which then followed up with many successful seasons in Ibiza as well as near domination of the cool northern cities entire thriving club scene. On the international front things were moving in the right direction too, tours up and down Spain, France and Italy. Guest slots in China, Thailand, Finland and Malta. His cool house grooves were slowly hitting every corner of the globe…..  


Signing a deal to Chicago based record label ‘Movement Music’ with a top 10 Beatport track ‘Coming on Strong’, Jamie had firmly landed on the global music circuit with massive support and indisputable credibility. Guest mixes followed on radio shows such as Stephan M’s show, ‘Made in Miami’ which featured on ‘Radio 1’ (Greece) and Riley and Durant’s ‘NuBreed’ on ‘Galaxy FM’ (UK) further affirming his status and notability, and in 2007 Filthy Rich head hunted him for the role as label manager and sound engineer of ‘Control Freq Records’ taking care of such artists like Prok & Fitch, Filthy Rich, Micky Slim, Miles Dyson and Rob Tissera creating a wave of massive hits!


Worldwide press coverage from Mixmag, IDJ, M8 Magazine, TillLate and Metro giving Jamie a bigger platform to express his music to a wider audience. M8 Magazine also labaling him has the “One To Watch” in 2010. The same year also saw a major upheaval in the industry for Jamie and the direction he was heading. When the physical sales collapsed and after numerous legal battles, ‘High Voltage Records’  and ‘Control Freq Records’ didn’t make the cut. Turning down various roles at well established labels, Jamie once again had bigger plans. 2010 was the year of LS City Records…….


Going back to basics and in pure digital fashion, this new direction was all about the music. LS City Records signing artists such as Richard Dinsdale, Belocca, Benny Royal, Lissat & Voltaxx, Jonathan Ulysses, Stephan M and Darren Mac. With over 10 top 100’s and a massive Beatport top 10 by the label boss himself with ‘Vamped Up’. Not to mention worldwide licensing on every single release. Gathering pace release by release, day by day and a relocation to Asia, evolving seems to be a natural process. 


Rapidly closing in on 2 decades of the music industry, Jamie yet again has set his standards high. New club residencies at the world renown Chi Lounge (formerly Bed Supper Club) in Bangkok. Event organising with brands such as ‘Toolroom’ and ‘Cream’ and a new partnership with close friend Darren Mac to continue the growth with LS City Records.

House of Tech is a Leeds based events brand and record label known for sell out parties with headliners such as Rossi, Prunk, The Willers Brothers, Antss and Ash-R.

On the label side of things we will be focusing on the more driven, upbeat, deep tech sound, those who have attended our parties before will be familiar with the HoT sound but for those who haven't you can expect to hear our sound from a mix of both up and coming producers aswell as some fully established names in the scene.

Shafunkers A.k.a. Alex McCulloch and Austin Moore / D-Track / Northern Groove / Sinewave

The pair, both students at Salford University in 1997, met through being randomly placed next door to each other in student halls. Having quickly realised they both shared a passion for making music, they began their musical partnership by creating drum and bass and breakbeat tracks under the guise of Sinewave. Both classically trained musicians with influences ranging from Jazz to The Beatles, the duos mutual love of dance music eventually led to them to begin producing house together.

Shafunkers played gigs around the world at venues ranging from BonBon (Shanghai) to Turnmills (London) and released material on labels such as Saved Recordings, CR2, G-Club, Plastic Fantastic, Toolroom, Fluid Recordings, Choo Choo, Deeper Substance, Strictly Rhythm 2...

Like most DJs, Mark’s career started out in his bedroom.  A passion for collecting records from an early age saw him go through numerous sets of 1210s before he finally decided to keep a pair and focus on improving his skills.

Mark spent hours upon hours in a very geeky way mastering Tricks and Skills on the newly produced Pioneer CDJ’s reading magazines, Watching Tutorials, anything to train his brain on what every button or knob did or how these machines worked to which proved vital later on in his Djin sets… 

Mark often uses 3 decks when mixing running Acapella’s over songs, Recording Loops & Samples which he uses in all his sets.. Mesmerising tricks which makes Mark a little or totally different from the normal Dj and something which makes people know or aware when he’s on the decks.. 
 
From day one, Mark concentrated solely on playing the sound he loved - Vocal Funkyhouse music. A genre he now knows literally inside out. Mark has truly mastered the sound he loves, Mark is proud to stay true to his roots.

With his foot firmly in the door and with his confidence reaching new heights, Mark found himself in demand and became a regular fixture on Manchester’s gay scene resident at Queer Bar, Essential nightclub, and also Leeds most famous night SpeedQueen on which he was resident for nearly 5 years. 

In 2010, Venus nightclub moved from its former Deansgate home to a new club on Blackfriars and with the new venue, came new ideas. Some nights were not as popular as others and as such were facing the axe.  One of the fated nights was Venus Classics and eager to come to the rescue, Mark asked club manager Ben Egerton if he could take over the night. Ben agreed to give Mark a three month period to get Classics back on track.

With Mark at the helm and a dedicated funkyhouse team of Venus resident, Mark began booking and playing alongside his dream producers & artists DJs & Live PA guests such as Junior Jack & Kid Creme, Grant Nelson, Mark Doyle, Freemasons, Soraya Vivian, Warren Clarke, Lisa Millet, Julie McKnight, Stonebridge, Seamus Haji, KKlass, Paul Taylor - to name but a few - Classics went from strength to strength.  Mark’s vision of developing a true funkyhouse night was beginning to take shape and putting the Venus Classics night back on track.  With Classics now rating the busiest night at Venus, Mark’s passion and love for his music has finally paid off.

But Mark’s dream doesn’t end there.  Nostalgic for the mis-spent nights of his youth, and inspired by the popularity of his music in Manchester, Mark decided it was time to bring a slice of the good old days back over the Pennines to Leeds…

Thus was born his latest venture. THE FUNKYHOUSE CLUB LEEDS..   

A night totally dedicated to playing nothing but, True Funky Vocal House Music.. Bringing back the sounds and vibes that Leeds was once buzzing with, Mark’s dream is to keep playing the music he loves within a city he has fond memories of.  Bringing together equally devoted DJs, PAs and other artistes Mark’s vision of a night that puts a smile on everyone’s face whilst raising money for good causes.. 

Funkyhouse Club is still vibrant amongst the Leeds nightlife bringing likeminded people together enjoying the music they love..
