Daniel Steinberg - Mercy Mercy

I recorded these songs back in 2001 / 2002 when the Eurostar felt new and exciting and mainland Europe suddenly felt a lot closer. Most of my gigs were outside of the UK and I loved visiting different cities, sharing my love of stupid electronic noise. 

The live set was recorded at the Eurosonic festival in Holland and was particularly special for me as John Peel was in the audience (it was one of his favourite festivals I gather.) We went out for a lovely dinner with John and his wife Sheila afterwards and talked electronic music, red wine, Radio One Roadshows, the future of music and how disappointing it was I wasn't really that into football.

Whatever this EU Referendum decision means for the future and whichever way you voted, we are part of Europe. Stating the obvious here, but it's in our language, our heritage, our culture, our food, our genes and our politics. 

This is a good thing.

Club trends come and go, but Daniel Steinberg has been a constant creative force in electronic music for well over a decade. One of Berlin's most celebrated house & techno practitioners, Steinberg is a dance floor specialist with an ear for infectious hooks and addictive grooves.   

He's connected with some of the most well known names in electronic music, having remixed Claptone, Felix Da Housecat and Oliver Dollar. His own productions have been remixed by Roman Fluegel, Derrick Carter, 808 State, Crazy P, Paul Johnson, Nick Holder, DJ W!LD to name but a few. 

Steinberg's early output arrived on Jesse Rose's Front Room label with a string of releases including the latin house hit 'Bailando' and his debut album 'Shut up'. The focus shifted in 2011 to his own Arms & Legs imprint through which he released his subsequent albums 'Treptow' and 'Left-Handed' and club classics 'Joy & Happiness' and 'Let Me Down' that was re-released on Defected with a chart topping remix from Tube & Berger.

His DJ-ing has been similarly heralded having built a reputation as an artist who delivers serious fun to the dance floor. Daniel has played peak-time slots across the globe including Panorama Bar Berlin, Rex Club Paris, Baum Bogota, DC310 Mexico City, Razzamatazz Barcelona, Wire Festival Japan, Fusion Festival Germany. See him in a behind the decks and you'll immediately know why, his energy is infectious and his skill undeniable as he weaves together own brand of fun-fuelled house and techno, full of sly creative winks.
