On May 27, @mikeservito x @jeffreysfire scheduled from 1am until 3am. Mike Servito always majestically closes out No Way Back, but what would this combination bring? Sfire brought the heat, and their styles melded in a slightly pitched down form, music from all eras appeared. To me, it was a form of sonic bliss. I went and asked the Danny from Bing (who does the sound and built the speakers for the Garden Stage) if he minded if we went later, he was all for it. "Kaifeng-born, now London-based Yu Su is a musician, DJ, sound artist and occasional chef. As one of the most prominent Chinese artists with a highly unique voice working across the globe in the last 5 years, her output covers all the ground you’d expect and more. Her multiple critically acclaimed records on UK’s Technicolor (Ninja Tune), Netherlands’s Music from Memory and China’s own Bie Records has seen her nominated for Canada’s Polaris Prize. She has co-produced music with John Carroll Kirby, Duval Timothy and is known for remix works for Parquet Courts, King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard, and many more. As a DJ, she is unpredictable, idiosyncratic; just “casually having the dance floor transfixed” have put her on the spotlights at clubs and festivals internationally like Dekmantel, Glastonbury, Boiler Room, iii Points, Nuits Sonores, Rainbow Disco Club, Phonox and so on. She has also recently been featured on the cover of Mixmag magazine, marking the first Chinese cover star. She has composed for feature films and fashion brands like Sacai, Jimmy Choo and London/Shanghai based SAMUEL GUÌ YANG."

Revered producer and composer Daniel Avery returns with a new album and live show, his most ambitious works to date. Channelling every corner of his sound, Tremor is a bold and transportive body of work through euphoric shoegaze, submerged techno, ambient soundscape and industrial bliss. It remains unmistakably Avery, yet dramatically evolved.


With the album Avery has welcomed an inspiring cast of collaborators, including the likes of Alison Mosshart (The Kills), Walter Schreifels (Quicksand / Rival Schools), bdrmm, Julie Dawson (NewDad), yeule, Ellie, Art School Girlfriend, yunè pinku, and Cecile Believe. Each artist leaves their indelible mark, yet the record’s true power lies in the communal spirit at its core.

“This is a living and breathing collective,” says Avery. “Since the earliest recordings, Tremor felt like a studio in the sky, a space in time through which we could all pass as artists”, he reflects. “It’s the welcoming spirit of acid house with the doors flung open wider still to allow in every influence from my musical journey: the warmth of distortion, the stillness inside intensity, the transcendental beauty of noise... They have always been there in my music but now it feels like those ideas are being transmitted in Technicolor. This is a record for the post-rave comedown kids, the guitar heads and anyone else who wants to come along for the ride. Everyone is welcome.”

Tremor will be released by Avery’s new home of Domino on 31st October.
