I've already posted a piece from Jurassic Park on here, but it was a piano-oriented arrangement that was a bit of a mess looking back. 

But that's OK, because now, due to software upgrades, I am able to fully orchestrate the Theme From Jurassic Park in my room at home. 

I used EWQL Symphonic Orchestra for all the sounds, and Logic Pro X as the DAW. I tried to get my recording to sound like Williams's original as closely as possible... and my recording isn't perfect. But I'm just glad to be done with it. Lots of work on this one. 

Nevertheless, enjoy this recording of my favorite movie theme ever!

A real "classical" piece is amazing within the dynamics of the players.  Trying to nail that with a mock-up orchestra is ridiculously difficult.  This is Ennio Morricone's death theme from the Untouchables.  One of the timeless ones.

Soundtrack from the movie Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence (戦場のメリークリスマス), a.k.a. Furyo in Europe, directed by Nagisa Oshima, and starring David Bowie, Tom Conti, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Takeshi Kitano.

The instrument is a Kawai VPC1 controlling a Clavia Nord Stage 2, using a sampled Yamaha C7 grand piano, and... straight from the 80's a sampled preset named "Touch Perco" from the Yamaha DX7 mk2 synth.

This is a sample mock-up/re-recording, not the original recording.

I was testing various production techniques to replicate Hans Zimmer's TDK soundtrack, leading to a lot of layering of instruments and sound design. The East West symphonic orchestra was layered with the Impact Soundworks Furia staccato strings patch to thicken the string ostinato. I used two vintage synthesisers; the Roland JD-800 & Roland JP-8000 for the hybrid orchestra elements and bass. The Roland JP-8000 was used to create similar Virus B arpeggio and bass, and also to layer the legato strings.  The Roland JD-800 synth brass was used thicken the brass section, and to produce a deep solid Moog like bass to fill out the entire track.

He composed this in 1971 for an Italian movie called Maddalena, and reused it in 1981 for the beautiful final scene of the French movie Le Professionnel starring Jean-Paul Belmondo who insisted on using this music. It was also reused in some other movies and TV series and is famous in French pop culture thanks to a memorable dog food TV ad for Royal Canin, where the music is used while a dog is running in slow motion.

The instrument is a Clavia Nord Stage 2, using a Bösendorfer sampled grand piano with some echo, and strings I control with an expression pedal, well, try to control.
