This is track 2 of 5 in the record I put together for my mom, who recently passed away from lung cancer - "In Memories of Toom". This is a song that mommy used to ask me to search for every version of it, put it on her phone, on her computer. She would tell me how beautiful I would sound singing this song, and asked me to sing for her. I would tell her I won't sound as calming as Mr. Cole and laughed, but I still sang for her anyway and she would always smile back at me. It is a reminiscence of a beautiful life and beautiful moments that we all had together. This song is for her... If I had to choose just one day to last my whole life through, it would surely be, that Sunday...

"The Sidewalks of New York" (a.k.a. "East Side, West Side") is a popular song about life in New York City during the 1890s. It was created by lyricist James W. Blake and vaudeville actor and composer Charles B. Lawlor in 1894. The song is often considered a theme for New York City. Many artists, including Mel Tormé, Duke Ellington, Larry Groce and The Grateful Dead, have performed this song. Governor Al Smith of New York used it as a theme song for his presidential campaign in 1928. To our knowledge, this arrangement (©2010 by Daniel Brondel) is the first unaccompanied choral version of the song and the only setting using the complete original lyrics.
