When Mike Dunn released his Classic Music Company debut ‘My House From All Angles’ last year, the album was met with critical acclaim, The Guardian writing: “God may have made him funky, but Mike Dunn has kept it going ever since.” Now, two stand out cuts from the LP are given the remix treatment, enlisting some of the label’s closest cohorts to re-work these two irresistible hip-house jams. Following stellar singles ‘I’m Not Defeated’ and ‘Future Romance’, Bronx-born singer-songwriter Fiorious returns to Glitterbox with a stunning cover of Aly-Us’ ‘Follow Me’. After releasing Louie Vega and The Martinez Brothers’ ‘Let It Go’ earlier this summer, Defected now deliver a remix from Australian DJ and producer Dom Dolla. The original record, a homage to NYC’s rich Latin American dance culture, was as slick, soulful and groove-filled as expected from two generations of the city’s finest. Street Tracks hits the big 100, with the release of 9th House’s huge 2019 vinyl only summer jam, ‘Keeping Me Up’.  The Street Tracks label has become a ‘go-to’ for fans of house music and techno tinged club bangers.  Over the last seven years, an A-list of producers & artists have contributed to the imprint’s enviable catalogue, with notable mentions to Mella Dee, EJECA, Groove Armada, Kill Frenzy, Will Easton, Junior Sanchez, Eli Brown, Lord Leopard and countless others. 

And so, the milestone release is handed to 9th House, an artist already making waves with a series of releases and remixes for labels such as 17 Steps, Shall Not Fade, Hottrax, We Are The Brave, and DJ Haus’ Hot Haus label. 

‘Keeping Me Up’ emits huge rays of sunshine, with its piano driven house chops and soulful vocal licks. It’s of no surprise, then, that the likes of Ryan Elliot, Honey Dijon, Cinthie, Dan Shake, Iron Curtis and William Djoko were hammering this cut when it was released on 12” vinyl last year.

One half of iconic British duo Basement Jaxx, Felix Buxton and vocalist Gia made their debut on Defected as Selace back in 2018. The record, ‘So Hooked On Your Lovin’ immediately struck a chord with dancefloors across the globe, laden with lingering organ chords and stunningly raw vocals, proving less is more with the minimalist yet stunning piece of work. Now, Gorgon City take on remix duties, working their magic on the release to produce a captivating, club-ready version brimming with peak-time feels. Weaving in atmospheric builds, an irresistibly deep bassline and swirling synths there is no doubting the duo’s capabilities for producing dancefloor weapons, but it’s the blissful moments of serenity and artful use of Gia’s powerful vocal stabs that make this one of Gorgon City’s most sophisticated remixes yet.

MARK MASTERS has had a special influence on the UK club scene, he has DJ’d at the likes of Fabric, Godskitchen & Manumission Ibiza. He has hosted his own very successful club nights including the excellent Flawless at Pacha. Mark set up SSRadio UK and held a prestigious A&R position at Ministry of Sound/DATA Records, bringing in the like of Erick Prydz – Pjanoo, Alex Gaudino & Steve Angello.

As you would expect with such a background, his new production is a little bit special, with an all Dancefloor consuming sound. The track was also No.1 in Rob Roar’s Counter Culture Radio Show.
