Born and Raised in Oporto, A.K.A "A Invicta", Portugal's 2nd biggest city, Mr Hemp (Rui Gavina) got the passion for music at an early age; listening the likes of Queen, Pink Floyd and Bruce
Springsteen and later, under with the influence of bands like Depeche Mode, came his passion for electronic music.
Having studied in the Oporto Music Conservatory for a few years, later became a bass player in a Punk Rock band like called "O.P.A." .
In the beginning of the 90´s, Oporto was one of the main stages for the Electronic Music
Revolution in the Iberic Peninsula, having week after week the best DJ's in the world playing here;  names like Carl Cox, Jeff Mills, Dave Clarke, Green Velvet and The Advent where showing their skills at the turntables every weekend on the city’s best clubs and some big Festivals Portugal's favorites like DJ Vibe (House) and Jiggy (Techno) were rising stars in Europe Dance scene. That was the Golden years of city's night clubs like "Swing","Enseada", "Pacha" and the world famous "Rocks" Club in Gaia.
Having started as a Rock DJ in some Pubs, Night Clubs and private parties, he quickly moved to Techno and Hard House and becoming the resident DJ at "Abstémia" night club, and later at the Legendary "Hard Club".
 Impulsive, creative and with a special taste for Techno, Mr Hemp loves in particular Dave Clarke’s style on the turntables; and as producer and more recently Dead Mouse and his amazing live sets.
