don't know what to say... I'm not well, and these songs are helping me comprehend deeply, emotionally, that I'm not the only one feeling all these kinds of things.

"regression" hits the mark in describing the degree to which i feel i've deteriorated. i'm seriously one of maslows monkeys with the terrycloth rn... it's fucked... and I sometimes worry i can't get better to live a life i once knew and could imagine myself enjoying. 

but...

"regression" does one of those sneaky shoulder taps when it's on the other side of you, cuz like when I and many of the musicians featured in here feel like this, we long to go back, even though "going backwards" (both kogarashi and tame impala via dorian electra) is meant and easily understood as a negative thing to happen. 

And then without thinking about it we might say shit like "put me back in my mother" (push push) and "i can't remember the last time we even climbed a tree... please tell me when when we'll frolic in the meadows again, or play'n on the forest, i dreamt that any day now we'll be free" (angel emoji in their song 'collina-mals,' as in 'calling all animals,' in order to call out our animal joys and sense of play and freedom). 

My animal is out rn tho, and it's shit.  just a fuck'n terrified monkey(but that song's still a banger).

... my therapist told me today that i should be playful and creative for my imagination of my future, and it's fucking hard when ur only used to making escape plans and are too anxious to even imagine getting any autonomy back. but it's better for the world, i guess, than if i have to become a non-autonomous agent in order to experience the freedoms of (some people's) childhood(s) "again."
