"I’ve always been sensitive to my surroundings and the world is in a very vulnerable place at the moment. I felt I needed to express my true emotions through something a little bit different to a conventional DJ mix and also that just writing one song was not going to be enough.

It was almost like composing a score, the only difference being that the pictures were only in my head. My ambition was for the music to evoke a visual response in the listener rather than just an emotional one. To do that I took some audio snippets of real life current affairs scenarios that really struck a chord in me and then used my DJ instinct to think of a track/musical piece that would fit well to that particular scene. Sometimes when I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted I added my own music over existing music or did my own sound design to create my own sound effects and also wrote some original pieces in the moment. It was very important to me to create ultimate flow and I felt this could only have been achieved without having any beats supporting the music. I also didn't want to make it eclectic nor constant as I felt that would disrupt the listener’s focus emotionally. There is a strong dynamic range throughout similar to classical music and also some parts that are almost meditative and then in contrast some more intense moments.

Wow, i think i couldn't have asked for a nicer debut live set than this. Since pictures aren't allowed at Kater just imagine this low rolling music with flashy colorful lights and an atmosphere of love and joy <3

Thanks for all my friends who where there and supported me, thanks to the dear Katercrew who made this a really chill thing and special thanks to Clarissa and Nick who made this happened. 
And most importantly huge thanks to everyone who danced and showed love during the set. 

So here it is, my first Liveset, not prearranged just played completely live and free in different dimension of time, including all the little crooks and hiccups in my voice and finger that come with a actual Liveset.

Raynor de Groot. Together they produce slow, grooving psychedelic
house music. Guava is the second single they released, and it will be
part of a new album due November this year. With world music as the
main source of inspiration, Tunnelvisions created a warm and soulful
soundtrack: "Guava is named after a Jamaican river, this song is
actually an interpretation reggae, pop and club music".

I have to say thank you to all of my fabulous friends for being around me or flying in just to celebrate with me, of course to my family from KaterBlau for letting me organize this fiesta, to all this talented and very special artists playing for me and of course to so many beautiful people dancing with me on every table we found... Imagine an inch-high hourglass as thick as a thumb, with a very narrow neck, that “empties” in, say, quarter hour. Now imagine another one as high as yourself, with a much bigger amount of sand running from the uppermost section through a much wider neck into the lower section in, again, quarter hour. Now that you are done imagining these two, try to use this example to visualize the relativity of time, the boundaries of the present, past and future, and maybe only then time will stop being a unit of measurement for you, with all the delicious food, music that gives you the chills and all your unspoken thoughts becoming units that measure your life, units that are always there, by the way, but we choose to not see them a lot of the time. One of our friends, for example, had been waiting for @mira_kater’s set so desperately that their life is forever split between before and after today.

Our generation has taken many causes but the most important cause is sometimes forgotten and that's our planet's ecosystem. Today our planet still waits urgently for our action and with the latest events, Mother Earth itself is screaming to humanity to slow down and reconnect with her in a spiritual way.

Modern societies have been treating Mother Earth as if it was their property; extracting resources, polluting constantly, changing the landscape, killing the other animals and destroying its natural balance.

Since the Industrial Revolution, humanity has killed 83% of all wild mammals and half of all plants of the Earth. Two hundred species of living beings are going extinct every single day. We collectively need to change so many things in areas such as the use of plastic, meat consumption, contaminating energies, day to day overconsumption and more. How can artists raise awareness regarding this?

Thinking on how to be simple but at the same time Universal, Cosmovision Records presents ¨Animals of the Earth¨. For this project we have gathered to co-create an ecosystem that lives in a music album. Producers from many places on Earth explored their connections with our animal cousins, remembering that the monkey, the wolf, the polar beer and all the others are our partners in the long trip that this green and lively planet takes in the Universe.

We invite you to come with us on this journey through the musical ecosystem of the ¨Animals of the Earth vol.2¨ to discover, respect and care for these beautiful beings that live with us.

About the song
I've always had a fascination with bats and especially their way of "seeing" by using the echos of their own screams, emitted a couple dozen times per second. Its amazing that they can make a mental image of their surroundings this way while flying around in total darkness with a million other bats. After I signed on to make this track and chose the bat, I remembered that my Mayan Nagual is 12 Aq'ab'al; this Nagual is about Light vs Dark and one of the animals that represents it is the bat. This was also around the time that the coronavirus outbreak was happening in Wuhan and it was suspected of doing the species jump from bat to human...needless to say it seems like the energy of the bat is following me around, and I tried to evoke the mystery of this animal in the track through the tribal percussion, middle eastern dulcimer and vocals, and the cave-inspired effects.
