"Pine Needles" is the opening track and 3rd single from Out of Blue — debut studio album by Daniel Steinbock, American singer-songwriter from Northern California. Following in the long tradition of poets, bards, and mystics, he opens the album with a dedication to the Muse. "The song asks you to wonder, 'Is there anything that is not holy?' Every needle of pine, every drop of passing raincloud, every reflection of seen light — names it so. This universe is impossible. And if our own flesh is holy, what better way to worship the mystery than to make love?"

swift red thread, a few stitches

in the shape of an "L"

it starts with an "L" but it isn't there.
swift crimson vein, threading hot air
its that crinkle in her eyes when she sews that smile
ascending possibilities of travelers mind
well she aint the one, she was just down for the count,
and you think for a moment it all will work out,
but you know the moments they're passing and you find you're alone,
though there's more to sing, more to be sewn.
you're running up and out
you're at worlds end
