CARRETERAS...
Pocas cosas me parecen (a mí) más evocadoras y melancólicas que las carreteras... carreteras que unen lugares distantes, pero que también son un continente en sí mismas, y si no que se lo pregunten a las personas que viven en ellas y de ellas. A todos nos gusta mirar por la ventanilla mientras el paisaje pasa de forma hipnótica... ¡es la parte narcótica de los viajes!.
Conozco personas que podrían estar horas hablando de carreteras... de cómo son, de lo que se ve en ellas, de las historias que en ellas suceden y de las que se truncan en ellas también.
La canción de hoy “con el viento” habla un poco de todo eso... esta canción la escribí en una época en que estaba completamente abducido por Josele Santiago y Los Enemigos, a los maestros hay que rendirles homenaje siempre. Hoy en día el viento de esta canción me habla de mi devoción por el papa de Duluth y el apostata canadiense, pero eso ya son palabras mayores, MAYUSCULAS!.. Lo dejamos para otro post. Espero que la disfrutéis y como dice la letra “con el viento, siempre un poco más allá...” Volad pues.
ROADS
There´s not much things more evocative and melancholic than the roads, in my opinion.. Roads that link distant places, but also a continent as itself, u can ask about this to the persons who live in and off them. I guess everyone enjoy watching the landscape going away in a hypnotic way…It´s the narcotic part of the journeys!!
I know people that cud spend hours talkin ´bout them and the histories that happened and wreck in the roads.
Today´s song “With the wind” talks about those stuff, hope U enjoy it and as the lyric says “with the wind, always a little further” Fly so..

Si. Lo confieso; me fascinan las carreteras. Salen en muchas de mis letras y en casi todos mis videos…también son un buen recurso de imagen, todo hay que decirlo.
 Las carreteras son un mundo de posibilidades: de dónde vienes, a donde vas y en medio… carreteras; carreteras como inmensos paréntesis, un universo en mitad de ningún sitio.
Voy hacia el Sur fue la primera canción que escribí, con poco menos de 20 años. Ha dormido el sueño de los justos hasta que hace un par de años la redescubrí en alguna vieja cinta de cassette. Ya no es lo que fue, tampoco yo. Pero hoy se pone de largo a ver si es posible que de una vez podamos comenzar de nuevo a no sé que… De momento nos movemos, que ya es algo.

Yes. I must confess it; the roads fascinate me. They appear in many of my lyrics and in almost all my videos… they are also a good image resource, it must be said.
The Roads are a world of possibilities: where you come from, where you are going to and in between ... roads; roads like huge parentheses, a universe in the middle of nowhere.
Going down South was the first song I wrote, when I was just ´bout 20 years old. It has slept the dream of the righteous until a couple of years ago when I rediscovered it on some old cassette tape. It is not what it was, nor am I. But today he gets off to see if it is possible that once and for all we can start again I don't know what ...  we´re moving, which is already something.

Contemporary recorded pop music that is tracked into a DAW is lifeless and congested because it is recorded with levels that exceed digital zero, which is -18 dBFS (18 dB below the top of the meter scale).  Doing this creates sound files which are harsh, muddy, and lacking in dynamics and high frequencies.  These distortions are burned into the recorded tracks.  The digital plugins that are used to mix these bloated binaries are designed to sound best at -18 dBFS, as are the AD/DA converters.  When the mix is finished, it is converted into an MP3 for distribution.  The MP3 codec was created in the early 90's by Karlheinz Brandenburg of the Fraunhofer Institute and was optimized for -20 LUFS using a track by Suzanne Vega called "Tom's Diner." When music streaming service was first conceived, a loudness normalization of -14 LUFS was selected by the creators of Spotify because the telecommunications regulators in the European Union had limited the volume of European cellphones to prevent hearing damage.  The compression necessary to achieve this loudness level doomed the world of recorded music to a flaccid future.  The mixes that I have created for this site are an attempt to salvage some liveliness and snap from the regulatory wreckage. During the mix process, all faders remain at unity.  Level adjustment is done with clip gain and the trim pots, and those levels hover at approximately -18 dBFS on all channels and buses.  A good deal of the credit for my success in this endeavor must go to the DAW that I employed in this task.  Harrison Mixbus conjures the summing, sound, and workflow of a classic hardware console.  EQ, 3 varieties of compression, and tape saturation are inserted on every track and bus. The settings are visible and adjustable without having to open a plugin, so mixing a song can be done quickly without leaving the feeling of being "in the flow." Mixbus has a sub-routine which is used to optimize phase. Each channel also has an obvious trim control, so that fader controls can be left at unity during mixing in order to preserve dynamic range. I export to a -16 LUFS level to correspond with the recent ITU TD1008 spec for integrated individual track loudness.
