Welcome to Fluxedo Junction! Each episode we bring you the best music of all genres from throughout the world, and this week we'll be speaking with singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Steve Cafarelli. Steve has worked with a number of Long Island bands over the year including Already Taken, The 51s, Monkey Grip, and Time Passages among many others. My take on a modern Ranchera ballad that blends country and traditional Mexican folk with an intimate, contemporary acoustic sensibility.
At its core, the track is a melancholic ballad exploring heartbreak and unrequited love. Features two versions: the original and a full Spanish version.

And a lawman somewhere behind him.  “OUTLAW IN DISGUISE” is a cinematic Country / Americana / Roots Rock story about a man living somewhere between freedom and trouble. Looking back on a life of chasing dreams, outrunning the law, disappearing without a trace, and crossing the border into Mexico, this outlaw knows the game—and knows it may eventually catch up with him. With a spaghetti-western atmosphere, Mexican desert imagery, swaggering guitars, and a rebellious roots-rock spirit, Johnny Punish rides into the sunset as the outlaw nobody can quite recognize.

MDRJR — Harmonic Heart Records

Every song, every rhythm, every melody, every lyric, written and captured on a four-track recorder and a cassette tape.

I began writing in the 1980s. Analog tape. Bounce after bounce. Layer after layer. I wrote through the 1990s, through the 2000s, and I have never stopped. Over 2,000 songs. Every lyric, every melody, every guitar part, every rhythm, written by me, and preserved on tape.

Those original cassette tapes are kept in a lock box. They only come out when I am ready to create something new.

I trained the AI using my own material. My own recordings. My own voice. My own songs. Some of my projects use different voices. But every one of them was created under my direction, using my style, my melodies, and my creative vision. The songwriting is mine. The ideas are mine. The AI is a production tool, nothing more.

I am a husband. A father. A veteran. A songwriter. I have played in thrash bands, alternative bands, and tribute bands. I have opened for bands that got their break. I have stood next to people who got theirs. I never got my turn, until now.

My music is for hope, healing, love, forgiveness, and getting back up. I write for the ones who feel alone, the ones who are fighting, and the ones who need to hear that they are going to be okay.

The technology changed. The songwriter did not.

My full catalog lives on Apple Music and iTunes.

The music continues. The mission stays the same.

Tom Basco makes honest songs about love, regret, freedom and getting older. 

Rooted in folk, Americana and stripped-back rock, the songs explore relationships that unravel, roads taken, nights regretted and those rare moments when life gives us the chance to start again.

Using this to showcase my songwriting and have a little fun. These tracks feature original lyrics and melodies, with artificial vocals and instruments. Eventually, the idea is to re-record these with real musicians and take these songs on the road, but they are also available to license to the right artist!
