Dedicated to my friends who show me cool songs, some of my fav local record shops, and LA people without central heating who don’t remember there ever being streak of cold nights this seemingly endless (and shoutout to everyone outside of LA who thinks we are wimps).

“Some for The Makossa Man,” a celebration and glance at the world of afrobeat giant, Manu Dibango: a trailblazer whose music laid the groundwork for what would become disco and hip-hop. He passed away today from COVID-19. Rest in peace, Makossa Man.

Daniel T is a California-based DJ and producer. A longtime record collector and digger, Daniel has become a local authority on bygone music. He hosts regular radio shows on Dublab (Crosseyed & Painless) and NTS (Tuff Shed). He started making music 15 years ago as one half of Cosmic Kids, who made a name for themselves producing heady house and astral dance originals and remixes for cult labels Let’s Play House and DFA. In the years leading up to the pandemic, Daniel and his former DJ partner Wyatt left an indelible mark on Los Angeles with their beloved series of Heat-Wave parties.

Daniel's solo output is inspired by everything that you might find leafing through his diverse record collection: disco, international funk, post punk, reggae, and off-kilter pop. He has released original productions and edits for Cascine, Razor N Tape, and Pleasure of Love.
