Monochrome presents, 𝖍𝖎𝖛𝖊𝖗 𝖑𝖑𝖑 : Stellah Maris, Öz / Exocet / Lost Area.

This winter, Monochrome is offering each month to one or several artists to discover their influences and inspirations through a forty-five minute to two hour recording. These three recordings will focus on percussive rhythms between Ambient, Deep Techno and Drum & Bass.

Artist biography :
With methodical contrasts, Stellah Maris animates magnetic tales. He plays rooted music through a surrealist prism, evoking sound rituals and lucid dreams.
As part of the Exocet collective, which he founded in 2018, Stellah Maris explores the depths and marine aesthetics in soundsystem culture and ambient music. He is also a member of the Nantes collective Öz as a resident DJ and sound technician, and takes part in the Lost Area project, a versatile platform offering visual works on a dub techno background.
Finally, he hosts Inconscient Collectif, a monthly broadcast on Radio DY10 dedicated to folk, traditional, spiritual and ritual music, as well as to the evolutions and experiments that have taken them across the ages and continents.

A special mix from our resident Minù Jr. to celebrate the equinox.

Description : 
Minù Jr is a multi-faceted project, in constant evolution, always looking for new influences. His two techno-sounding EPs, Ostinato and Electronic Pulses, reveal the artist's discovery of electronic music production.
In the last one, Electronic Pulses, he presents his singularly audacious vision of techno with four tracks with different atmospheres.
This year, Minù Jr joins the roster of the Lyon-based collective/label Monochrome and increases the BPM towards a synthetic drum n bass tinged with dub. The programmer of Chalet Perché (which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year) continues his discovery with several strings to his bow and arrows always well sharpened.

Founder of the Module mix series, @nessiel explores the psychedelic and broken side of electronic music, from mental drum'n'bass to psychedelic faster techno. 
Also a member of the Merci collective, Nessiel is involved in the organization of inclusive and libertarians events in the area of Rennes (FR).

For this episode, he invites us to explore the depth of the ocean, through the legendary Continent of Mu.

The continent of Mu is a mythical continent which would have been submerged after a cataclysm; as well as Atlantis and Lemuria. 
Mu was first heard of by the French missionary Charles Étienne Brasseur de Bourbourg (1814 - 1874). In 1867, he translated the Mayan codex Tro-Cortesianus discovered in Yucatan and claimed to have deciphered a story of a land that had been swallowed up by the Pacific Ocean.
These researches are taken up again much later by the British writer James Churchward (1852 - 1936), who makes a similar proposal on the continent of Mu, and places it in the middle of the Pacific Ocean as Brasseur de Bourbourg. He made this research through his book: Mu, the lost continent published in 1926. 
He learned about this continent from an Indian priest. During his stay in India, he discovered strange tablets written in an ancient language. The Indian priest taught him this dead language and explained to him that it was the "original language of humanity" and that only three Indian priests had the knowledge of it.
Other recent hypothesis to locate the Mu Continent have been emited, trough the discovery of the submerged structure of Yonaguni. The structure is made of sandstone and was discovered by a local diver in 1985, south of the island of Yonaguni in the Ryukyu archipelago. 

Other people have tried to find Mu, but in vain. Today, only mystery lovers and ancient civilizations speculate about the existence of the continent of Mu, trying to find an explanation about our origin.

With a discography that includes releases on @wellstreet, @deliriorecordings, and @annulled_music, Lorenzo has forged a distinct sonic path characterized by its unconventional and ever-evolving style. From mesmerizing minimalistic sound patterns to immersive melodic tribalism, his music traverses a vast spectrum, oscillating between subtle frequencies and intricate drum breaks, all designed to engage and captivate the senses of listeners.

Happy to welcome Josephine' Soundscapes aka @machines-desirantes to our mix series! Jose Salas is an audiovisual creator and active cultural promoter in Madrid. As a DJ, or selector, he always works with a mixture of research from the past with a strong commitment to the present. He is currently part of the collectives a_mal_gam_a and CALMA, both working in the Spanish underground electronic scene. He also hosts a radio show called "Campos de Marte" on @radio-relativa, focused on experimentation in music.

This mix is a beautiful mixture of downtempo beats, acid synths and trippy melodies that builds up beautifully over 1h40. It's as he calls it, a "Machine Desirante" coming to life :)

Røpe (@rope_rope) - Roberto Perez, Barcelona, 1990-, co-founder of TILECT.art (@tilect), has been playing at events organized by labels such as NODE, Mostra, Planetaria, OUT recs, or Sub Radio. He loves playing slower dubby and mental techno, with a tendency to avoid darker stuff, so his selections usually bring the listeners into a reflective mood that feels good. As a middle-aged romantic guy, he is usually playing vinyl-only sets.

Icaros of the Desert Sky is a ceremonial trance journey by Leeuwenstein, inspired by the ancient Shipibo healing tradition, desert mysticism, and feminine voices that guide the soul into dissolution and rebirth.
