Any artist is welcome to send us a track via freshonthenet.co.uk anytime between Monday lunchtime and Wednesday evening (or when we receive 200 submissions, whichever is sooner) - and all our moderators, including Tom Robinson, will listen to every track. This is our full inbox from the week beginning Mon 3rd November 2025: from Friday afternoon you'll be able to hear our shortlist and pick your favourites on this week's Listening Post which will appear at freshonthenet.co.uk/batch588

If a track you submitted does not appear in this list, it’s probably because another of your tracks appeared in our Fresh Faves or on the BBC Music Introducing Mixtape during the last three months — we ask that artists featured on either wait three months before resubmitting to give others a chance. 

We also don’t accept short previews or SoundCloud Go tracks that can only be heard as 30 second previews, and tracks made private after submission, which cannot be included in playlists. You will be able to resubmit the track in future. Tracks (and remixes of tracks) that have been previously submitted, and tracks from banned artists will also be removed.

Christmas songs and the like are also not eligible for the Listening Post, although we will collect these into a playlist that will be published on 24 December.

Salt Lake City-based Indie Singer-Songwriter Josaleigh Pollett will return on October 28th with “Radio Player,” an electronics-infused and Poltergeist-inspired new single. Here, Josaleigh is reunited with long-time collaborator Jordan Watko (Crowd Shy) for the first time since Jordan’s relocation to Japan, making this their first recorded output since 2023’s highly acclaimed “In the Garden, By the Weeds,” which NPR Music’s Bob Boilen featured on All Songs Considered.

Despite the distance between them, the pair opted to make their first cross-continent collaboration more ambitious and exploratory than what came before. Initially finding acclaim in 2020 with their ‘No Woman Is the Sea’ album, before going on to share bills with St. Vincent, Torres, Deep Sea Diver, DeVotchKa, Mini Trees, Hibou, and Kilby Block Party, “Radio Player” sees their sound continue to evolve. This new slowburning single merges analogue atmospherics, Indie Rock drive, and Pop melodies to create something that feels haunting, claustrophobic, and cathartic.

Speaking on their return, Josaleigh comments:

"Radio Player is a song about memory and fear, loosely based on seeing the movie Poltergeist at too young an age. It is a journey through the hallways of childhood that we leave a light on within. A pink light flickers on and beckons the listener through, releasing them changed and covered in ectoplasm five minutes later.

In true independent DIY fashion and similar to 2023's In The Garden, By The Weeds, this new song is recorded mostly at home between my Salt Lake City make-shift home studio, and Jordan's apartment in Japan. The difference this time is that we're bringing in more collaborations and new instrumentation. In addition to mixing and mastering, Nashville's Andrew Goldring helped with production and played some instruments on Radio Player, as well as being a part of the live band that played Kilby Block Party earlier this year. Radio Player really got its feet under it in a live band setting, and we tried to bring more of that to our production without losing the electronic-based production that Jordan is so fluent in. 

This is the first song we made together since Jordan moved to Japan in 2024, and instead of letting distance dampen our collaboration, we really tried to lean into the chaos and confusion of creating from different ends of different days while an ocean apart. I think a lot of that anxiety and newness mixed with the dedication of friendship drives this new music.”

Brighton-based indie-electronic duo Bloody Tourist return with Goodbye 79, a nostalgic, quietly anthemic
single featuring the stunning vocals of Dutch-British artist Tessa Rose Jackson. Out November 4th, the track
blends bittersweet lyricism with shimmering production, continuing the band’s evolution toward something
more emotive, expansive, and quietly defiant.
Inspired by the Simon & Garfunkel lyric “how terribly strange to be seventy”, Goodbye 79 meditates on
change, age, and the beauty of letting go. It's a song about saying goodbye—to a moment, a place, or the
person you once were—and doing so with grace. Melancholy but never maudlin, the track is carried by
jangly guitars, a jittery rhythm section, and a soaring first-take solo, capturing the tension between
vulnerability and momentum.
Built from an old demo and brought to life through collaboration with Jackson and producer KD K.dar, the
song’s warm, organic textures blend indie-folk storytelling with electronic undertones. Think Big Thief
meets LCD Soundsystem, with the raw intimacy of Sufjan Stevens and the cinematic touch that both Bloody
Tourist and Jackson are known for.

Tessa Rose Jackson, whose solo work has drawn comparisons to Feist and Laura Marling, brings her
signature sense of cinematic intimacy to the track. A songwriter, composer, and visual artist based between
London and Amsterdam, she’s known for weaving storytelling and emotion into layered, atmospheric music.
On Goodbye 79, her vocal melody forms the song’s beating heart.
While previous singles have leaned into surrealist lyricism and slanted grooves, this new release marks a
deeper, more reflective moment for Bloody Tourist. It’s still playful, still off-kilter—but there’s a softness
here too, a moment of breath before the fall.
With support already from BBC Radio 6 Music and a growing fanbase across the UK and Europe, Goodbye
79 is a defining step toward the duo’s debut album Love Was a Big Thing, due later this year.
