Saxophonist, composer, arranger, and educator.

Saxophonist/Flutist/Educator/Journalist has spent his life in music, studying with masters covering a wide range of styles and genres. Levon Helm, Sonny Sharrock, Buddy Miles, David Amram and Chico Hamilton have taken him under their wings. Beginning saxophone studies at age five with Erik's father, saxophonist Arnie Lawrence, who created the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music as well as the Internation School for Creative Music Studies in Jerusalem. Erik has performed and recorded with The Spin Doctors, Joan Osborne, The Band with Bob Dylan, Steven Bernstein, Henry Butler, Branford Marsalis, Nawhang Khechog, David Amram, Little Feat, Trey Anastasio, Phil Lesh, Warren Haynes and Gov't Mule, poet laureate Robert Pinsky, Eric Mingus and countless others. 

He currently plays with his own ensembles as well as Steven Bernstein's Millennial Territory Orchestra, Henry Butler/Steven Bernstein and the Hot 9's, Vox Lumina and several other bands. 

In addition Erik began teaching in college at the age of eighteen and has since been on the faculty and artist-in-residence of several universities, including Williams College, Montclair State University and The Putney School. He is available for master classes, lessons via Skype and lectures.
