To celebrate Saint Jean Baptiste Day, which is a big deal in our hometown of Montreal, Turbo took over Piknic Electronik for a major Quebec outdoor party vibefest. It was a blast, another in an endless sequence of amazing hometown shows that always reminds me why I still live in Montreal. Here is my closing 2 hour set in its entirety, starting with Let's Go Dancing and ending with Clouds.... with a whole bunch of good tracks in between. Thanks to Piknic, and the Turbo crew, and of course my home town.

this is the set i played at camp q wed night burning man 2013.  thanks and love to all the camp q folks who worked their fucking asses off, to all the brainstorm fam who came out to play, rep and perform, and to everyone else who made it in front of the stage to get down w me.  it was an epic night and an epic burn. 
i picked these tracks with a 100,000 watt pk system, and my basshead friends  in mind.  808 heavy, bass heavy, head knocking, neck snapping dope shit.   
*note* this was recorded live and unedited.  at the very end i cut the bass for the next performer to mix in and then the song abruptly  ends. :)  #realshit

Happy Burning Man New Year (BMNY)! Given the energy so many of our communities contribute to make Burning Man the event it is, we could use our own calendar year (particularly if it came with additional vacation days for Burners!). Like most year ends, a dose of not-too-serious reflection in our case can be a good exercise.

 SpaceCowboys on-playa this year did some different things…since we reckoned “Wednesday is the new Friday”, “Orange is the new Black”, and “Breaks is the new Breaks”, we moved the timing of our annual Hoe Down to Wed. We also shifted the location to the deepest in the playa it has ever been. Based on the 1,000+ people and ~35 mobile art cars/pieces that joined in the shenanigans over the course of the night, we were simply delighted to see so many friends and communities join us ‘out there’.

 We promise to have even more crazy stuff like this year’s sushi, pork, beer from Denver, and so on next year. If anyone can find the SpaceCowboys a good deal on a mechanical bull or bungee bull, please contact DJ Shissla on FaceBook. Most importantly, we look forward to more of all of you J.

 Speaking of you kick-ass Hoe Down attendees, the SpaceCowboys drank a special Table Shot (long story) of Jameson to you at the end of the Hoe Down - because you were so dang professional with MOOP. We’ve never seen a cleaner playa post-Hoe Down, all thanks to you sexy, holdin’-it-down burners we’re so happy to call friends.

Now, on to the music! The first recording from the SpaceCowboys 2013 Black Rock Hoe Down comes to you courtesy of Shissla/Shizzy (or whatever you wanna call him, really). For nearly a decade, Tycho has been known as the musical alias of Scott Hansen, but with the release of Awake – his second LP for Ghostly International – the solo project has evolved into a three-piece band. Relating closer to post-rock than ambient soundscapes, the record is situated in the present, sounding more like Hansen than drawing from his influences. “This is, in many ways, the first true Tycho record.”

Following 2011’s Dive LP, the San Francisco-based designer toured extensively, and with a full band on stage, his sound coalesced into a percussive, organic whole. Zac Brown (guitars, bass) rejoined Scott on the road for this tour, but it was the particular addition of Rory O’Connor’s live drumming that ultimately sent Hansen back to the studio with a more precise vision. “After the tour, I decided that I wanted to capture the more energetic, driven sound of the live show on the next album,” Hansen recalls. Bringing musicians into Tycho’s creative process was a step towards expanding his own songwriting and advancing the project beyond its current sound.

In a cabin near Tahoe last winter, Zac and Scott began fleshing out the structure of the new record, but it wasn’t until they set up shop in the hills of Santa Cruz with Rory that it all fell into place. “It crystallized the vision of how the drums would come to the forefront on this record,” says Hansen. The sound was much more stripped-down and concise with more organic instruments in the fold. Songs like “Montana” and “Awake” are a departure from Tycho’s previous material – unique to the group effort poured into the songs on the new record – while “See” and “Dye” echo ideas from previous works, bridging a middle ground between the old and new. Working with Count Eldridge, who also engineered Dive, the team could fixate on the pulses that Tycho might previously layer under synthesizers and exhume them with distinct bass and guitar patterns.

Also known for his design work as ISO50, Hansen’s visual and sonic efforts have dovetailed throughout the course of his career. “This is the first time in my life I've dropped everything to focus on one artistic pursuit,” notes Hansen. Previous Tycho releases came to fruition when an amalgam of songs were nearing completion, but Awake is where music becomes the focus and true expression becomes the result.

Its a sound and a feeling that has always been a feature in my sets, and doesn't necessarily feel tied to a genre. In the digital age, the compilation has lost much of it’s former glory. Not too long ago it was an indespensable format for the music-lover. Was it brilliantly compiled and telling a special story, the compilation was a significant gain as a particularly successful artist album. 

In recent times, the compilation has been cheapened with generic ’Ibiza’ and ’Miami’ labelling as the genre compilation all but dissapeared from the scene. 

This brought DJ T. to an idea, to create an homage to this nearly extinct format. As vol. 1 of the project is supposed to be a highly visible counterpoint to the ubiquitous, mostly House and Techno-stocked season sets and theme compilations, his choice fell on Disco; one of the oldest species in club music. Disco is currently experiencing a sort of rennaissance, with many young, and until recently, completely unknown artists and labels carrying the heritage on by working with new and contemporary definitions. 

Naturally limited by the selection of works available digitally, DJ T. chose a very personal array of 43 tracks to give the connoisseur an overview of the newest branches in the Disco-tree and to cover as many diverse genres the last three decades have seen. 

As the ’cherry on top’, the compilation contains a handfull of exclusive and unreleased tracks, including two new edits of the old DJ T. classics ’Philly’ &amp; ’Funk On You’. Catz ’N Dogz appear with a remix of ’Dis’, the big hit of his second album. DJ T. also put his hands on one of his favourite classics ’Around The House’, one of the early works of the Hamburg-Disco-King Tensnake. In addition there are two unreleased tracks from the two mexican artists Robbie Akabal &amp; Muan and Damian Uzabiaga.

Danni B has been a trusted force in the underground electronic scene for over two decades, bridging continents and communities with her influential sets and a deep love for dance culture.
Her journey began in Melbourne with the launch of Tickled Pink Events in 2004 — a forward-thinking party series that brought international heavyweights like Dyed Soundorom and Christian Burkhardt to Australian shores for the first time. As a DJ, she quickly became a regular behind the decks at iconic venues including Revolver Upstairs, S.A.S.H, The Breakfast Club, and beyond.
In 2011, Europe called — and by 2012, Danni had relocated to Berlin, where she carved out a loyal following and toured consistently, earning her place in Europe’s thriving club circuit.
After seven years abroad, she returned to Australia in 2019, this time landing in Sydney. There, her long-standing friendship with fellow scene staple Cassette evolved into a creative partnership. Together, they launched Bodywork in early 2020 — a collaborative event brand known for its dynamic energy and inclusive dance floors. The duo now perform together regularly under the Bodywork banner and are set to expand the brand with a record label.
With a finely tuned ear, an instinct for curation and a global perspective, Danni B delivers refined, dynamic sets that leave a lasting impression wherever she plays.
