An outstanding Singer/Songwriter/Lo-Fi Producer from the West Midlands, Staffordshire, UK, surely one of the most earnest up and coming lyricists coupled with with an uncanny ear for catchy melody, although touching on some of the darkest subject matters in life, he has the ability to make these things seem sweeter with his intimate, honest and gentle approach to music and still keeping that raw sound . An Artist to keep tabs on during the coming future as you may be missing something.

“Death:Life" (AKA Sandy Stanton) sound is stripped down to driving and catchy guitar, bass, and the occasional synth, whilst still allowing songwriting to be displayed in it's barest form. It's an ideal sound, fitting for his talents highlighting his vocals and guitar playing.Sandy writes songs about "all sorts of things, sentiments, feelings, attitudes, objects, themes, anything really, the normal to the obscure." It's this random element that further adds interest to Sandy Stanton. You never know what your going get from one song to the next. From the often mined "get out of this shitty little town" theme of "Get Up/Backstreets", to upbeat/menacing Charles Manson referencing in "Burn Your House Down" and the funny, surf music inspired "Ain't No Surfer Babe". "Give You The Creeps" with percussion fleshing out the track, a thumping rhythm guitar, the song slowly builds to the chorus, then goes back and forth with the hook and builds again and again until it reaches a level of such power on the final chorus you feel like your going to explode.”

Without being rude or stereotypical, when you first meet Sandy-Thomas Stanton (Death:Life) (Vocals/Guitar/Other) which I did; chatting about thirty minutes before any band came on, I wasn’t expecting greatness BUT greatness is what was delivered. Sandy’s strumming was sweet yet aggressive and had simply awesome vocals, akin to James Dean Bradfield of the Manic Street Preachers – this guy shone. My favourite track of the set was ‘Surfer Babe’. Stylistically, I could hear The Lemonheads and a little of the Smashing Pumpkins, which in my book is all good. Towards the end of the set things took a darker turn, all i was thinking was Joy Division and all the slightly gothic depressing bands of the 80's, i must say i was stunned by the guys ability to pull this sound off, and i still felt he lived up to those prolific bands that are so widely loved and still sounded fresh, His performance was a very pleasant surprise and he is a definite artist who I would definitely go to see again… sooner than later, all i can say is... when this guy is discovered there is great potential for a storm upon the music industry.

On the road since 2011, i've had the opportunity to travel all over the world, meet amazing people, and support some of my all time favorite bands and artists. For that i am eternally grateful.
