‘Playback’ is a real sneak attack on the senses. Building with hip hop stabs & vox’s you will be hypnotised by the step out nature of the intro as it breaks down in to the vox commanding you to “check this out man”. Then out of nowhere deep rolling bass drags you full throttle into the track! Deep booming subs then combine with the rolling bass to keep your senses & internal organs resonating at full throttle whilst the track steps out in a big way! Most definitely a riddim to let the listeners know what time it is! Big!

AA – Musical Talking feat K jah

If ‘Playback’ can be described as a “sneak attack”...then ‘Musical Talking’ is more of a creeping roller that you wont be able to get enough of after the first time you give it a listen. Building in a very unassuming way ‘Musical Talking’ (which features another Hocus Pocus artist K Jah) injects pure dub vibes into the riddim as the intro pulsates along. Further to this, a knocking bass sound hooks you in & doesn't let go, before the tunes breaks down to the drop! At this point you are transported via a disgustingly deep & menacing reece bass which complements the knocking bass like an audio marriage made in heaven to roll out like a real champion bubbler. RRRRRRRRRolling to say the absolute very least. A real dance floor roller in the truest sense of the word. Sick!

“She says the Jungle!!” from the drop of the needle on the record, or to the play button being pressed on a CDJ... this track lets you know what’s up from the very first second! The classic vox which ushers the track in sets the tone, as this one laden with samples from a classic action jungle flick builds with ferocious intent. An eerie pad & string then accompany the beats & vox as the dynamic of the track begins to increase & lead towards the crescendo! Upon the drop... an absolutely cantankerous bass cannon is let off transporting any listener in to the heart of the Amazon... skanking like as if their very life depended on it. A true jungle rinser! ‘Old Painless’ is most definitely one for any DJ to “pull out tha bag” ;)

Bloodstream is the first track to be aired from this five-track bass explosion which the men behind it describe as “a little bit of everything from both camps”.

Roadtested by both acts throughout the summer at every festival they can shake a dubplate at, they’ve told us it’s caused “some of the most amazing front row screw faces”. Check it out and you’ll understand why.

A charity fundraising album project curated by Foreign Concept & the team at Critical, featuring tracks donated by Mefjus, Emperor, Foreign Concept, Kasra, Krakota, Enei, Eastcolors, Hyroglifics and Halogenix.

In Christmas of 2013 Foreign Concept, Stray and Xtrah got their heads  together and decided that rather than let some sought after unreleased music sit idle on their hard drives they would put it to use and offer people the chance to download the tracks whilst raising money for charity. 
This year Foreign Concept has gone one step further and we at Critical have all gone through the vaults and put an album together, again for a good cause. This time we have chosen Oxfam. Oxfam is a vibrant global movement of dedicated people fighting poverty. From saving lives and developing projects that put poor people in charge of their lives and livelihoods, to campaigning for change that lasts.


All monies go directly to the charity.

The Critical Music signed drum & bass producer, Emperor’s'She Said VIP’ – which will be exclusively available from the Critical store this Monday – is superlatively frenetic, heaving it’s way out of the rousing build up introduction with the sort of lurching industrial bassline that’ll set most dancefloors afire. The full Into Black EP will be released on vinyl and digital this coming Monday, but we’re toasting the publication of the EP’s pre-order link here today because it ties in nicely with the fact that we recently announced the next Critical Sound date (10th July) where you’ll be able to witness Emperor going B2B with The Upbeats.
