Renegades Of Jazz "Afro Cookie (Little Trooper Remix)"

To celebrate the release of NICK PRIDE & THE PIMPTONES' album "Midnight Feast Of Jazz" and launch second single "Lay It On The Line feat. Zoe Gilby", RK recently partnered with Giant Step, Blues&Soul, Funku, InZona Mag, Soul Kombinat, Acid Jazz Hispano, Iyezine and Popcorner (Radio Rai 2) to put together a remix competition of "Lay It On the Line". Now, after 2 months of submissions and a truly remarkable amount of great remixes, the winner has finally been chosen! And it is......some suspense please.....a tie!!!! Both DJ/producer from San Diego Danny Massure with his latin-funk inspired remix and UK duo James Beige with their bossanova flavored version came out with top notch work we could not chose between. So now, exclusively via Digital Download here at the RK webshop, we proudly present the "Lay It On The Line EP", with the original album version (watch the VIDEO below!), alongside the 2 remixes. This is one heavy slab of dirty funk.

The a-side is an absolute BRASS monster of a track titled "Harrow."  A cut that gallops from the first hits of the snare drum to the blaring sounds of horns, ultimately making our aural universe a better place.  The b-side, titled "Nautilus (Hijacked)," is an instrumental cover of sorts, containing recreated hooks from "Nautilus" (Bob James) and "Hijack" (Enoch Light), which were famously sampled by Slick Rick (Children's Story) and The Beatnuts (Watch Out Now) among others.

Releasing album ‘Bring Out The Sound’ in early 2018, Britain’s original live hip hop band The Herbaliser have been touring across Europe non-stop since, finding fans wherever they’ve touched down. Now BBE Music revisits the project with three brand new remixes from Mr Bird and The Gaff.
Since issuing his BBE debut ‘Low-Fi Classics’ alongside hugely respected UK vocalist Greg Blackman, Lisbon based producer Mr Bird has been going from strength to strength, finding his music consistently championed by the BBC’s Craig Charles among many others. Remixing Bring Out The Sound’s fiery opening track Breach, Mr Bird injects a little bounce into the groove and adds atmospherics, not to mention a monstrous synth bass-line, sure to move bass-bins (and backsides) across the globe. For his version of ‘Over And Over’, Mr Bird employs a much more sensitive touch, giving Stac’s beautiful vocal deliver room to breathe over shuffling drums and subtle synths. Finally, renowned Party Rocker, Producer, Record Collector and ‘DJ’s DJ’, The Gaff takes on modern b-boy anthem ‘Takedown’, turning the drums up to eleven as he expertly teases out even more funk from the Herbaliser band’s original performance.
