Mandoo, a French band whose core is Esther Ben Daoud on Keyboards and Pierre Vanier on Bass and Vocals, had released a pretty good album in 2012, "Sweet Bitter Love" that contains some true West Coast flava !
There are many tracks on it that are really good, with a catchy hook and nice musical arrangements that you certainly would enjoy...
Among others, I always loved "Summer Breeze" and thanks to Pierre who kindly gave me an Ok, I had the pleasure to revamp it with my personal touch as a new Re - Therapy work.

The indigenous cause is an urgent one not only in terms of territory but also when it comes to the preservation of the vast native Brazilian culture and Brazilian singer-songwriter Marlui Miranda has been dedicating herself for almost four decades to keep their music alive (she's a doctorate on native Brazilian music,  so you know).

In 1995, Marlui released the album "Ihu: Todos os Sons", a collection of native Brazilian chants she gathered in her field researches and released only in CD through two small labels (one in the US, the other in Brazil). This research started in 1986, funded by the John Simmon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, and it investigated the sounds of different tribes in the Rondônia state, northern Brazil, namely the Suruí, the Makuarap, the Aruá, the Tupari and the Jaboti tribes - the latter being the one identified with the "Tchori Tchori" chant, which praises a bird called biguá.

The haunting, beautiful melody of "Tchori Tchori" couldn't get a better companion than the exquisite musical palette of Uakti, one of Brazil's greatest instrumental groups, known for creating their own instruments (you've heard them before in Selva Discos alongside Maria Rita). That's what the listener gets on the A side of this release - the deep sound frequencies of a 45RPM cut, fully remastered, of a song never put on a vinyl record before.

We welcome newcomer Jemu (pronounced Jem-You) to the Fly Boy Records family with his masterful ‘Rayban Funk’ EP. A 3 track collection of Soulful House cuts, introducing us to the new producer with a snapshot of what he has to offer.

The EP takes us through a satisfying journey of bold low end, grooving, dusty drum tracks and emotive chord patterns. Through the music we get hints of Jemu’s inspiration taken from a broad range of styles and artists like LTJ Bukem, DJ Premier and Jazzanova.

'For me, the real fun in writing music is coming up with chord progressions and melodies; the tempo doesn’t matter as long as the musical elements create the feeling that I’m trying to achieve through the music. I have a real love for Hip Hop, R&B and Soul, so with this EP I’ve been experimenting with sound pallets and chord progressions reminiscent of those styles, but in a slightly different context.'

From the gritty drums of 'Rayban Funk', the laid back R&B vocal chops of 'Trip To You' to the left field lead lines of 'Unfold', this debut EP from Jemu is a perfect slice of lo-fi, soulful goodness. Tuck in!

After just over a year on-air and more than 200k plays later Stay Cool transitions from a radio show into a label with our debut compilation. Altogether is a 50-track behemoth that spans two parts, Part. I is focused on slower Hip-Hop & R&B sounds, and Part. II is focused on faster electronic frequencies. 

Altogether takes its name from a few aspects in the recent history of the movement. It describes the compilation bringing together many of the different sounds and artists purveyed on the show, how quickly we’ve been able to grow in our short time on air as a result of the genuine relationships we’ve built through music and finally describes the ability of seangran and his pals to get through their own personal trials and tribulations thanks to the power of music and the strength of their real friendships. 

Thus despite being a free download it does come with one request: that you take some time out when listening to consider the people that have supported you and made you who you are today. Maybe even reach out to one you haven’t heard from in a while and just say “Hey”. Hard times can be difficult but if we help carry the weight of things that have been holding down those that we love it makes those times easier and our bonds stronger. We can not only survive, but thrive, when we begin to think “Altogether”.

I was high on endorphines from a beautiful night where I did a DJ set in just the right place, with the right crowd, and imagined a track I would love to play should this ideal setting occur again. Being used to having all sorts of instruments around in the studio, the self-imposed restriction of having to work with that fleeing harp sample dictated its dreamy direction.

Unissued studio session of outfit The Devoted Souls, Coming out of the Stu Gardner stable. Not much info is known about the session.
We obtained the reels, and what better way to embrace those individual stems that get the kind of edits Kon for a special rework!

Fizzikx lands back on Pogo House Records for release 137 with the ‘Got 2 Me’ Ep and delivers the goods. On track 1 Fizzikx brings quality bumpy Garage House stacked with slammin kicks, tight percussion and what could be described as tumbling inverted funky piano keys which are reminiscent of the early Nice and Ripe vibe. The track then gets remixed by CJ Reign who brings tuff 4 to the floor vibe on things and gives us a real dancefloor mover finished with high quality precision as all his productions are. Label Boss Martin Depp picks up the other remix of ‘Got 2 Me’ with his ‘BackTo 95 Remix’ and adds a few extra piano breakdown and a lighter percussion whilst maintaining the vibe of the original track.
The other track on this ep is ‘Changes’ Fizzikx takes a more meaningful soulful feel on this and produces a warm vibe on this track that leans more towards the House spectrum than Garage House. Mexican producer Jizz, however ensures that doesn't last long with his remix of ‘Changes’ that trades a bit of the soulful feel away on the track for a more dubby vibe with a bumpy edge.

Known as 'The Born Entertainer', Dwayne Jensen is one of the key artists who helped to shape the Detroit House sound and the new evolution of music we now call Techno.

A self-taught DJ, musician, producer and writer, the Detroit-born native started off as a Jazz drummer & percussionist before gaining respect worldwide as one of the true Detroit superstars.

We are also delighted that Geoff Pesche from Abbey Road Studios is back on the mastering and has worked his alchemy on the release.

A1: Ignition - Original Mix: Dwayne starts this timeless EP with a powerful and switched-on Deep Detroit number, rich with filtered pads and trademark drum sounds straight out of the 909. A solid piece of modern House, this relentless, driving classic takes no prisoners

B1: Deep Dive Dub - Original Mix: Dwayne really shows us what underground House music is all about with this moody, stirring number. Jazzy keys and funky bassline conspire with raw and tight percussion to produce a track which is off the fathom charts. A personal favourite of Mr Jensen's, this is a sure-fire crowd-pleaser guaranteed to warm up any dance floor.

B2: My People - Disco Nights Mix: Finishing the EP off with a bang, we are over-the-moon to be re-releasing the all-time classic, 'My People'. Originally released five years ago on a 12" compilation album, which only ever made a small run, it's high time this track was given a full release.

Fun, infectious and uplifting, if this isn't the track to get a party started, I don't know what is. This solid EP mixes a delicious slice of past and present, and is a rare record not to be missed. Play it loud!
