In Max's own words:

'Nils Frahm is one of the best artists out there in my opinion, with pretty much the best live show I've ever seen. But aside from all that, this was just a really enjoyable remix to work on because the original is such a great piece of music, and seemingly so well suited to what I wanted to do with it - which was to try and turn Nils' instrumental jam on his Juno, into something house/techno/club/44 compatible, but still carrying the class and feeling of the original. It was one of those remixes that just seemed to fit and flow easily, with minimum strain and maximum enjoyment on my part - usually a good sign for a remix (the one's that have to be forced never seem to quite get there).

Not only is this one of the best remix projects I've been lucky enough to be involved with, it's also available totally free for you to download and share as you like, courtesy of Erased Tapes and Decibel festival where myself and Nils played last weekend, as well as XLR8R, who were good enough to first feature the 'For' remix.

And of course, it's also a thank you to YOU for listening an supporting my work over the years....thank you and I hope you like the track!....

Finally, I can talk about this - my debut album Human is coming next year, March 10. This is the first single from it, Adrift, with my long running vocal collaborator Kathrin deBoer. I had a simple piano chord progression and a randomised percussion idea to give to Kathrin, who captured the feeling beautifully with her lyrics and jazz influenced vocal approach. It's more of a personal piece of music for me than a club track, which is the approach I've taken for the whole album.

I originally wrote this as a lullaby for a girl over a year ago, and over the year it turned into what it is today. There much more to say, but sometimes things are better left imagined. With his debut artist album officially arriving to stores in a fortnight, American sensation Dan Sieg (of Dan & Sam) has undoubtedly emerged as one of the leaders of Silk Royal. A thrilling series of releases by Dan in the proceeding months begins with "No Way Back Up," the first single from his forthcoming "A Sense Of Wonder" artist album. Dan has never shied away from writing emotive vocal anthems; his past Dan & Sam hit "Walls," featuring Maxx Hennard, proved to be one of the most supported singles in the history of our imprint. In "No Way Back Up," a gentle breakbeat slowly picks up steam, while a variety of bell-tinged hooks and other supporting melodies contribute a lush soundscape. The patient crescendo ultimately culminates into a stunning chorus by Michael Ware of Illuminor, who sings of the tragic dissolution of a relationship. Michael profoundly delivers the metaphor of a fall too painful and far, from which to recover.

It has been nearly five years since we have had the privilege of releasing new music by veteran Australian musician Approaching Black. We are overjoyed to present his new 3-track EP, "Salt & Sea," featuring three sensual, seaside progressive house gems. 

The title cut establishes a beach-at-dusk ambience from its earliest moments. A soothing progressive groove is punctuated by a variety of lush melodies, including a gentle, arpeggiated lead and a series of vocal flourishes. In the main break, the tranquil atmosphere centers on relaxing pads and a gorgeous piano theme. When the rhythm returns, the listener is swept away by the mellifluous soundscape.

The subsequent track, "Blue Bird," maintains the after-hours, beach-flavored atmosphere. A gorgeous chord sequence and vocal motif carries the midrange, while a smooth, deep-progressive groove sits comfortably below. Approaching Black's evocative pads and piano add even greater depth to the already emotive soundscape. 

Rounding out the release, "Face The Sun" is more of an uptempo affair, featuring an uplifting groove and jazzy lead theme. Once again, the listener is met with soulful vocal hooks, including the well-suited phrase, "You make me feel like the summer." As the song progresses, Approaching Black showcases his exceptional compositional ability via a stunning array of atmospheric and melodic accents.
