Here we are again, 16 years in and the 3rd release by the Dappled Grays. 16 year and 3 albums, we keep telling ourselves that we are going for quality over quantity! Each recording we have done as a band is very different than the last and represents significant change and growth. We started out with idealistic goals and we’ve matured into a group of people who share a common goal: to make music we love with people we love. It really is as simple as that. Casey Cook and Michael Smith, the 2 original members still in the band, grew up as best friends and next door neighbors in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Greg Earnest and Keith Morris also grew up together, bluegrass buddies in middle school and high school and even roommates in college at University of Georgia. There’s real history here, much that's been sworn to secrecy, and life-long relationships. Leah Calvert, the youngest member of the band and newest addition, in the band for almost a decade now, is the gel that gives this version of the band cohesion. Her vocals and energy are the muse that propels the creative side of the group. Now, 16 years later, we are 5 close friends who like nothing more than to hang out together and create music. At our worst we have fun and at our best we strive to make art. This recording is a glimpse into what we do. We hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed creating.
