The Necessaries kick things off this week, with some driving guitar pop featuring Doors-style organ (they were one of the legendary Arthur Russell's projects). The tracks from Rendez-Vous and Halina Rice show traces of Joy Division/New Order. Elsewhere, Nick Hakim's "Cuffed" gets a psychedlic going over at the hands of Jamie Liddell, and there's a soul strand that runs through the Inkswel, Bardo Martinez and Bob & Gene tracks. Things round off with some "World" music courtesy of Trio-Da-Kali & Kronos Quartet and then Leila Gobi. Pick of the week, though is The Necessaries' "Driving and Talking at the Same Time"
